This Is How It Begins || Julia & Logan
Julia’s eyes flew open. As usual, it took her a few moments to reorient herself. She was lying on the floor of the dorm and as she sat up, she could still hear the echoes of the screams. An involuntary sob broke from her lips, as, shaking, she got to her feet. A tear trickled down her face and she quickly wiped it away.
Pale light was pouring in from the windows and Julia realized it was morning. Morning. Others would be waking soon, if they weren’t already. She didn’t know if Shawn was awake yet, but she knew she needed to see him. She knew she wouldn’t be fine until she’d told him what she’d seen.
Getting dressed took longer than usual because she was trembling so much, but finally, after what felt like an eternity, she was ready. She dashed out of the dorm and down the stairs to the common room and through the door to the rest of the castle.
She walked as quickly as she could, trying not to draw attention to herself, towards the great hall. The room was barely full, and one glance around it was enough to show that her best friend was not yet there. She sat down intending to wait for him, but sitting still was torture. After only a few minutes, she got back on her feet and headed back out the door. As a Prefect she knew where the Horned Serpent common room was, even if she didn’t know the password. She’d wait for Shawn outside the door if need be.
She never reached her target. She’d just turned around a corner when she felt herself collide with someone, knocking her off her feet. The flood of tears she’d been struggling to keep under control now burst forth.

Julia patiently waited outside the Great Hall. She hummed to herself, excited for the Gala. Last year, she hadn’t enjoyed it at all. She’d been so upset over Oliver’s accident that she hadn’t been apply to appreciate it. This year, though, everything was going to be different. She was determined that it would be. For one thing, she wasn’t going alone.
She was still surprised that Logan had asked her. Part of her wondered if he had asked simply to be nice, since she had been planning on going alone. If he had, she appreciated the gesture. Not that she would have minded going alone. But she didn’t mind going with him either. The whole evening she was going to be wonderful.
She heard foot steps and looked up. She smiled as she saw Logan approaching. He looked, Julia couldn’t help but notice, quite handsome. “Hi,” she beamed at him.
