everything i write about arlo on here until late august is all pre-campaign solely because im leaving arlo in my dm's hands until he moves but.
arlo is their chosen name, jade is the name of their dead wife that they've taken as their surname. historically arlo has taken the names of the people they love after they die to keep their memories alive in they only way they're capable of doing. so. 2+2. full explanation below the cut if you want Actual Details !!
captain crongor was slaughtered using arlo's sword by the direct underling of the man who enslaved him when he was a young man. arlo was the only one to witness this happen. he was like a father to them (moreso than edwin kettering, their biological father)
the only reason arlo hasn't started introducing themself as crongor at this point is because they've just recently met the captain's actual biological brother and they're not about to be like hi :) you don't know me at all :) i was essentially your brother's son :) also your name is mine now :) without a conversation with said brother about how much/what the captain meant to the both of them.
if arlo survives the final battle that i know is coming i'm sure they're going to refer to themself as crongor for the rest of their life. but they have to have that Big Conversation first with a man who may or may not be happy about this Random Stranger taking his last name
they were referring to the captain as "my father" less than 2 weeks after he died but they have yet to refer to themself as "crongor" hence arlo jade [ crongor ]. in like 2 months it'll just be straight up arlo jade crongor probably captain arlo jade crongor but we'll see where that goes. if arlo lives. they might not live.

i've actually been thinking about this recently-ish and i think she has a selection at this point!!!
i'm a hip holes apologist so i think she has a few on hand and still wears them, but it's sort of being phased out. like sorry but i can't give it up fully </3
i really like her newest canon costume. the comics themselves are not particularly great, but the outfit is cool. i think this is her go-to these days when she's anticipating heavy hits or serious shit. i love pouches and pockets, and love a little armor for her since, y'know. no powers. just a gal!
as for my own ideas, i like to think she also has some "toned down" ensembles -- they're still purple, and functional for work, but they're low key in the sense that you wouldn't necessarily clock her as a hero if you just saw her walking around. like... maybe she's just cool and fashionable. along the lines of stuff like this;
Binder tucked underneath his arm, Shane, not for the first time this morning, thinks that his mom should be handling this. She's always handled the business end of things with ease, including the people.

okay wait i have more questions now heehee bc you mentioned that peter is sciencing his way into what the best stuff for his hair/skin is. what is bailey's interest in science? does he like learning it? is peter using anything like the shampoo experiments to introduce science to bailey and make it fun to learn?
unfortunately, against all odds, peter is raising a little boy who cringes at the thought of math tests and would rather pet dogs and go to fight club with daredevil. peter blames matt’s early influence. bailey’s much more into action, running around, playing, fighting, and games. peter was a nerdy home-body who liked books at that age … but he does try to make learning fun for bailey ! peter homeschooled bailey for a few years — as bailey had been too young for real school when he’d been kidnapped and spent the next couple years experimented on, then training to control his appearance and abilities. he never had the chance to get into the “learning is fun” mindset. peter has a teaching license and loves teaching science ! typically he’s taught teenagers, though, with most of his experience being faculty at a high school. he tries to make bailey’s work as fun as he can, but bailey will probably tell you that peter gets too into it sometimes and goes off on tangents. ( his current favorite science lesson was making the exploding baking soda volcano. )

Tommy places the plate in front of Andie with a wide grin, stepping back to bow dramatically at the waist.
"Breakfast," he sing songs, "is served!" On the plate are pancakes, eggs, breakfast sausage, bacon, and two pieces of toast topped with butter and jam. The pancakes sport a chocolate chip and whip cream smile, too.

Kaz knows the feeling. Well, he doesn’t, but he can pretend he does. He’s normally the one taking places over, but he can imagine the Dime Lions felt the same way Andie does when he ran Pekka Rollins out of town. Not that he cares about the Dime Lions, but still. He’s not entirely sure he cares about Andie, either, but she’s chosen to confide in him and so Kaz will listen. He nods. “I find that murder tends to help.” He doesn’t think that solution will go over well, but it’s the only one he’s got. “Or stalking. We could steal something, if you like.”
