NAAAAFFFF i just binged thru o’ medusa and im literally crying at how oblivious briar is LMAO. im eating it all up but it amuses me that briar’s whole thought process goes something like:
briar: i wonder what eclipse does in his room all day
eclipse, taking his 5th depression nap of the day: i crave death.
that gorgon has ISSUES 🤩🤩 i know he prolly hates himself and his entire existence due to his change to something so utterly inhuman, but that’s okay bc i’ll do all the loving for him <3 the entire time i was like omg how sebastian-core of him 💕😏 but anyways. this isnt about fish man LMAO
receiving that cloak from briar must have equal parts hurt and heartwarmed him bc like. on one hand yay a gift from someone who doesn’t want to hurt him/is not scared of him for once and in fact Cares enough to get it for him, but on the other hand it’s literally a soldier’s cloak iirc and that probably reminded him about who he once was. self loathing goes crazy ❤️ he’s gotta be tormenting himself constantly with how refined and polished his old armor is. oh to mourn for a life you no longer have…..
also, he’s probably so scarily good at concealing his footsteps. i have no doubt that he’s spent numerous times looking at briar from afar when theyre unaware LOLLL. him creeping about, staring at them like this ❤️👄❤️ and they would be none the wiser!!
and i fear i have a bias for his little snakes LOL they r so cute, all the details about them shifting closer to briar & gently giving them little snakes kisses with a flick of their tongues is soooo 😍😍 and the fact that they give away eclipse’s innermost feelings LMAOO does he get irked that they give him away constantly like that or has he resigned himself to it LOL
living by himself in the temple for two whole years must have left him terribly lonely and touch-starved too lol. also probably depleted his social skills if im being honest LMAO. it’s clear how important briar is to him now, especially since he waits for them to return whenever they go to the market. sometimes i gotta shake him for being so angsty and jaded tho LOLL but his emotions are valid i suppose. i too would curse the gods if they changed me into a monstrous being for whichever reason. my current theory is that it was puppet (and for Sure she’s gotta be the goddess of the temple; i had a feeling once the tiles of the courtyard were described as being black and white. and i think homar is probably henry) and eclipse is lying to briar about having “found” the temple in its destroyed state, but i dunno!
i swooned when he showed up to fight monty btw HAHA he was soo good with that sword, even after two years of not having touched it (most likely, i think). muscle memory serves him well. my heart went like this 💔 when he rushed to pick up monty’s glasses at the end and it ended up melting away tho💔💔 he was probably so hopeful at that moment sjjdkdkdd i have no doubt he wouldve given them to briar to use 😔 its okay tho, my heart mended itself with that little kiss he gave briar LOOLL i know what he is 🫵 (in love, terribly attached to briar—to lose them would ruin him beyond repair)
anyways, the extent to which i know about medusa lore just comes from the percy jackson books i read in middle school SOOO here are my current theories for how the ending could possibly go wrt the whole “turning people into stone” thing:
1) eclipse gets stabbed in the eyes or something of the sort in a final battle with this afton iteration 2) briar goes blind (unlikely tbh, given that the whole fic is already with them having the blindfold on) 3) magic glasses (since afton “built” monty and therefore also made those sunglasses that shielded monty against eclipse’s stone-turning powers, he likely has the power to create something of this sort again) 4) briar gets turned to stone BUT somehow they are able to reverse this with the help of klyta OR potentially puppet 5) briar somehow had the hidden ability to Not turn into stone the entire time (also unlikely, but those sheep had me Pondering) or they gain this ability later on 6) eclipse gets turned to stone (devastating, agonizing, my thumbs are pointed down). right now im leaning more towards theory 1, i think. it would be poetic, in a sense
also are the cats sun and moon LMAOOO i saw them added as characters in ao3’s tags and i was like. eyesquint. those r some suspicious cats. but they could also not be 🤷♀️ i am eager to see more of them, regardless 🙂↕️

FINALLY THE FIGHT SCENE YES! I've been waiting to write that for so long, and augh! I love showing off Eclipse! He's so skilled and cool, and he's going to have sore muscles having not doing that kind of work for two years but Briar can see now!! And ask some questions about it hehe
