Why did the thought of seeing Nami in Sanji’s arms bother him? Luffy was fine when he first saw it happen, but then the sight reappeared in his mind. The blond always treated girls like babies - holding them and coddling them and answering their every need. Sanji always treated Nami like that. 

Soon, the captain’s brow sunk along with the corners of his mouth. Was the future Pirate King bitter? Yes, the feeling that conquered his mind and pressed his teeth together. This was like eating a stale, old cherry pie. 

He stuck his tongue out.

Nami could take care of herself. She was one of the fastest Straw Hats, so Luffy didn’t have to carry her like a baby. He believed in her.

As the laughter between the orange-hair and blonde intensified so did Luffy’s frown. 

Did Nami want people to treat her like that - to carry and baby her like people treated Princess Shirahoshi?

The growing concern of the Straw Hats caused them to mutter amongst themselves. Luffy hadn’t touched his food, and he clearly harbored resentment towards Sanji and/or Nami. 

The navigator snapped away from her entertaining conversation with Prince Sanji. “Luffy! What’s your problem? You’ve been complaining about every food you ate since Sanji left, and he’s back now, so why aren’t you eating?” she complained.

Sanji frowned and looked at Luffy’s nearly full plate. “Yeah, is it too spicy? I wanted to turn up the heat with some of the new spices I found,” he grinned. 

An ominous frowned stayed on Luffy’s face and any sound in the air dropped to an undetectable volume. 

Sweat glazed the foreheads of everybody in the mess hall.

“Come on, it can’t be that bad, Luffy!” reprimanded Nami. “Sanji put a lot of work into this for you.”

Again, the image of Sanji carrying Nami popped into his mind. Naturally, Luffy said, “I want to be the one to carry Nami like a baby, too.” He didn’t say he wanted to be the only one because he wanted people to save her if that was the best way to do it.

No one knew whether to burst into laughter or take their captain’s plea seriously.

Color burst onto Nami’s face. “What? What does that mean?”

Jumping up, he darted towards her and swept her legs up until he fell into his arms. “You see - like this!” 

At that point, everyone laughed. The sight of Luffy being genteel towards anyone was hilarious. He lacked any kind of grace in an uneven way that he held her. 

“Oi! Luffy, you’re not jealous, are you?” shouted Sanji as his jaw dropped.
