19: Forceful Kiss

Jae downright hated their fanbase sometimes, but even he had to admit that the girls were geniuses. Kyung had barely been on camera with Second Star’s behind the scenes things fore what... two months? Max? And the girl’s had already somehow figured out that he had a thing going with Jae? Or maybe it was just them shipping everyone with everyone or maybe it had been that one episode where Hyunwoo had shown Jae and Kyung asleep on the couch together for whatever bizarre reason the vocalist had decided was the good idea behind that episode. That being said, they were doing a live stream at the moment, ( prepping for the comeback and all that jazz ), and fan requests were pouring in left and right on the side.

It was just Jae and Kyung right now, and so most of the requests were just singing something together ( to which they would to one or two bars for the fans ) or just the basic “tell me you love me oppa~!” thing. Though a devilish grin spread on Jae’s face as he read one and before asking Kyung’s permission he’d grabbed the younger’s face and pulled him close, delivering a rough and rather unannounced kiss onto the other’s lips. He held it for a few moments, knowing that if it lasted any longer the fanbase would literally explode and pulled away with a smile that really shouldn’t have been as radiant as it was. 

        Was he being stubborn again? Jae always kept asking him questions that Kyung never answered and of course, the elder’s way to get him to open was alcohol. He’d only been legal a couple of months, apparently pouring wine down his throat was a good idea.

        His attention flickered to the glass that Jae was pouring for him, his body suddenly craving the beautiful clear liquor slowly filling said glass up. Groaning, Kyung accepted the crisp drink, pressing the rim to his lips, taking it in desperate gulps. He could feel Jae’s eyes on him which he tried to ignore as he finished the remaining drink.

        “Okay fine. I’m not okay.”

     It wasn’t that Jae was protective of Kyung... even though he was. It was much more of the matter that if he was feeling unstable and Teddy’s return was only good news for him. He couldn’t even begin to comprehend how Kyung felt who had still been feeling slightly guilty about having taken the now bassist’s position as a drummer. It was downright disruptive not to mention the second the Australian had signed his new contract the company had basically ordered them to come up with a whole mini album in about... what three weeks. There weeks to write, record and produce the songs. On top of filming a music video. Honestly they were lucky as fuck that they really only had to write two since every album had a song written by each member.

Jae, Hyunwoo and Siwan’ songs were easy, they’d been written for the previous album and were just adjusted to Kyung’s drumming style and had added in a bass line for Teddy (the combination of the two adjustments honestly made most of the songs sound four times better). But maybe Jae just overthought everything. His mind was constantly swimming trough one scenario to the next, he couldn’t even enjoy beer anymore because his own thoughts wouldn’t shut up. He was staying in the dorm more too. Trying to be responsible but honestly he just wanted to go back to Minchan, the older boy was quick to quiet his thoughts and he missed that right about now. With all the chaos. And by chaos he was talking about for everyone else... wasn’t he? 

But he was a bit surprised when Kyung actually spoke to him after drowning the drink. Jae perked up almost instantly on high alert after what the boy said. Great. Now he just had to keep him talking... which was going to be a lot harder said than done. But he refused to let his precious- er... he wasn’t his and he really needed to stop calling him that. He refused to let Kyung stay closed off like this. He’d been acting strange since he found out that Teddy had stopped by the dorm two weeks ago. Not that he’d been acting normally before then it just got way worse after.

He wasn’t one to think too much. Though that was a lie wasn’t it? He thrived in situations like this, so say that he thoroughly enjoyed them was a bit of an understatement. Jae had left for Los Angeles almost instantly after Hyunwoo’s movie or drama or whatever it was filming had started. The comeback had ended up getting pushed out, it was released as a single instead of a full album to save the rest of the songs, but they never promoted the thing because of all the media coverage that was trying to find negative press, the company had decided that it was just safer not to have them catch more attention than they already were. He’d kept in contact with the band for the past few weeks (literally two) that he’d been gone obviously. But he still felt a little bad about leaving, everything was always a rush at BB. And the terrible thing was that he usually did stuff like this all the time. He’d run off back to his family with his tail between his legs when things got too out of hand. But that was better than having a complete mental breakdown and overdosing right? Always looking for the positive side of things wasn’t he? Oh well at least he’d get to spend time with Kyung again. The boy was one of the only positive things in Jae’s life at the moment. He wasn’t quite sure what they were either? They’d had sex a few times since Kyung’s return into his life a month or so ago when BB Entertainment told them that they had to stop wasting time and gave them a new drummer while Teddy “sorted his life out” which Jae was starting to realize probably meant he wasn’t coming back to the band. At least not any time soon. 

The airport hadn’t been half bad. Fans greeted him per usual and he got into the company van and was driven back to the dorms. Jae’s living arrangements were up in the air as of the moment, with the open space in the dorms (since the band had originally been six members and as of right now there were only four) Jae had been sleeping back and forth between his home with Minchan in their rooftop room and the band’s dormitory. Mostly because he felt responsible for the group. Not that he needed to Siwan could take care of himself, he had music to write for others and his voice was becoming quite popular. Jae wouldn’t be surprised if Siwan started to get asked to do features on songs soon. Hyunwoo was the same, he had his boyfriend Jiro to keep him company and was currently filming for something so he was barely around the dorm (only to sleep lately). So it just left Kyung, who was new for crying out loud and they were leaving him alone for most of his time here. Jae felt a little guilty about that. But it wasn’t like he could have taken Kyung with him back to Los Angeles, his relationship with his parents was rocky enough as it was. The last thing he needed was to be introducing band members that could also possibly be considered his lover to his homophobic parents who disapproved of his career choice and were only okay with it because he was sending them money for Mimi. 

      Jae closed the door behind Kyung and just stared at the boy in awe. The last thing he’d expected as for him to follow him up to his room and to come inside. To say he was shocked was a little light for this particular situation. He was still trying to digest exactly how Kyung had made it onto their team. Sure he’d switched into BB a few years back but... Kyung was supposed to be in a boy group not an actual band. Why did Kyung want to talk anwyay - okay so they probably needed to be less awkward - if they didn’t practice would never end up going smoothly. Jae slowly leaned back against closed door and slowly sank to the floor. 

      Jae had to admit he’d known something was off when the manager said he had to meet him in the studio  they had no new songs since they’d put all their effort into the now postponed album. Not to mention he’d barely gotten enough sleep these past few days after Teddy left. He’d spent way too much time worrying about how in the world the band was going to survive now that there seemed to be a solution he wasn’t too sure he liked it. He was sitting on the producer chair in the booth along with Siwan and Hyunwoo when a familiar face had walked in and the door behind him had closed and locked from the outside. Why was it that they always had the worst luck? The room was getting cold from the silence of the group. He was the leader, he should say something... after all this was their saving grace right? And it wasn’t like Teddy was gone forever right - they just needed to get through... and if this was the world’s way of saving their asses then he had to man up and deal with it. But what an awkward way to meet again after almost two years. Why was it that he’d known so little about this kid - or that’s what it felt like right now anyway. He stood up from the chair and went over to Kyung holding his hand out and trying to seem like a good leader.
