The government of Lithuania is antisemitic for not revoking the 'war hero' status of people who fought the soviets or nazis but ALSO participated in the holocaust which killed a third of Vilnius' population. It is antisemitic for not better protecting the Ponary massacre memorial from regular defacement. They're also antisemitic for keeping relatively quiet about their country's importance as a center of European jewish history and not teaching the holocaust with acknowledgement of complicity and complacency (most EU nations like to make believe antisemitism rose and died with the nazis)
The government of Vilnius could, maybe, be considered antisemitic for not turning over the small synagogue in Lukiskes prison over to the jewish community for cultural preservation, however this would mean they'd have to hand over the russian orthodox chapel to the RO church which is not an option for a country barely free of the USSR and at serious risk of invasion - being right next to Belarus. Their choice to go for a fully secular museum and cultural centre makes more sense in that delicate context.
I'm not going to add this to any of the call-out posts circulating. Correcting facts when people are hurt just comes across as telling them to magically not be hurt. You have a right to be hurt but where you direct that energy also matters.
I do recommend you visit some of the links provided by the american tiktok at least they got that right. There are some amazing Litvak people doing the work of preserving history, fighting erasure and teaching the truth.
"Stranger things + antisemitism" in a search engine leads to context-free articles and a ton of tabloid pages about Mel Gibson throwing horrific slurs at Winona Ryder long before his drunk driving incident.
"Dr Felix Ackermann + Lukiskes" will get you results to multiple papers pre and post transformation of the prison about it's religious significance.
To the folks calling for the destruction of the former prison or calling the people of Lithuania hateful: for the love of all things good, please learn to click some of the related links on a wikipedia page: Lithuania became a massive shoah site because a massive amount of Jewish people were citizens there or fled there.
