Something I still cannot get over with Batgirl (2024) issue 20 is how well it handles what it feels like to have a dissociative seizure. Genuinely with how much the book’s quality keeps flip flopping, it’s impressive how accurate it is (at least from my experiences with my own dissociative disorder), even if it’s magically induced.
It’s such an interesting nuance to add to a character who has such a well-known disability as well. It really shows that disability has multiple side effects instead of singularly easy-to-box-in ones that people tend to write. And gives Cass another slap in the face reminder that she’s not perfect, which in of itself only fuels her suicidal perfectionism and gives her more consequences (that she ignores) about her impulsivity. I also just love the idea that Cass has a dissociative disorder as well.
