Shakhtar Donetsk coach Luís Castro speaks ahead of his team's match with Real Madrid:

But when you have Cristiano in your team you should never let him go. Never ever! We are talking about the best, the most effective footballer in the world, a machine of work and sacrifice.

For me, Cristiano is the best in the world. He has an exemplary biography. He was alone in Lisbon, at the age of 11, to be a footballer, he left his home.

He is a building that was built alone, with a unique determination. I think he is an example for all children.

And people criticize him too much. That he does this or that, that he spends a lot of money on this or that ... and he responds on the pitch day by day, always being aware of where he came from.

The day they make a film about his life and people realise where he came from, how he became a footballer, they will cherish him much more.”
