i am so sorry that i am super late with this, i fell asleep the day i reblogged the meme, and after that i just needed to get in the right headspace. anywaaaays, here’s some cute destiel autumn fluff:

it’s the first october in the bunker where they actually aren’t too busy. which is odd, because autumn is usually where business gets really crazy since the days gets shorter, and dark takes over.

halloween still isn’t really sam’s thing, but dean is determined to show cas how much fun it can be. so dean drives to the farmers market in town and buys the biggest pumpkins he can find. he fills the backseat, and when he comes back cas is staring at him in wonder. pumpkins are filling the kitchen; tables, chairs, the floor. and dean googles pumpkin carvings and grins broadly at cas.

“everyone should carve a pumpkin at least once,” dean declares and grabs cas’ wrist, leading him to the table and puts a knife in his hand. “dean, isn’t creating facial expressions on vegetables something children do?” cas asks, his eyebrows furrowing above his nose. he’s wearing a pair of worn out sweatpants from the local thrift store and a faded black sabbath t-shirt from dean’s dresser that he has grown fond of over the time.

with a shake of his head dean chuckles and grabs a knife of his own. “babe, i have a hard time imagining any scenario where you were actually a kid, so i see it as my responsibility to show you what you’ve missed out on,” dean says, cocky, but the smile that follows is soft.

and cas nods. because if dean wants to share something with cas he is always compliant, and while he often starts out skeptical of what new adventure dean wants to toss him into cas usually always ends up with having a really good time --- if nothing else, the joy dean gets from sharing something with his boyfriend is reward enough.

so they spend the afternoon carving lanterns in pumpkins. neither of them are an artist, but they have fun. they laugh, with hands covered in pumpkin guts and most of their arms smeared as well. it takes practice, it takes time, and dean yells at his pumpkins a couple of times, but he still takes moments to watch cas as he is very focused, his forehead lying in deep lines as he grumbles under his breath about how hard it is to make the knife do the exact turn that he wants. and it’s times like that dean has to look down into his own cut open pumpkin, rolling his lips into his mouth and take a deep breath. because his heart is jumping in his chest and his stomach is doing cartwheels.

when they’re done the sky is all black outside and they light up tea candles in the lanterns on the backside of the bunker. the crisp air smells like warm pumpkins and candles. as a yawn escapes cas’ mouth dean gently pulls him closer, pressing a kiss to his cheekbone as they watch the lights dance over the golden leaves spread around the garden. and it’s in the small moments like this, where they are quiet and close, moments where both of them are sleepy after a long day, moments where all dean can feel is the warmth of cas’ body against his own --- those are the moments where dean can’t help but think that he is so damn lucky to be in love with his best friend.

oh god. my favorite musical. i don’t know because it all depends on the mood. it would be so easy to say wicked, the version with my baby adam lambert as fiyero, but other times it’s just rent or a gentleman’s guide to love or murder, and then there’s the really angsty times where once is the only way to go because it’s tears from the beginning to the end.
