i despaired in the middle of my work day that i fucked up a fic and then!!! was able to fix it! so that's a very positive thing for me today.

i'm going to go see my friend nina soon! having a job means stability and being able to afford things. so i'm very happy that i'm able to get a trip together so we can meet up.

i had a great time ending my workday with my annotation read of the outsiders at my desk. i haven't done it in awhile.

getting into nirvana. my shitty high school gf was into it and i have been turned off for a long time. but the batpony fic and generally rotating around the batman 2022 had me actually... getting into them organically! it's nice.

I WAS ABLE TO FIND THE ORIGINAL VERSIONS OF FORBIDDEN GAME BY LJ SMITH!!! okay so twilight coming out was bad for YA. because classics got twilight-ified covers. so this is what people saw for a long time:

they are. well. ugly. i went out and got the original covers but they're falling apart due to age so i needed new ones. and i found them!

i forgot i even put this ask game out. we'll do both.

1. my first impression of them

as a kid i can't remember what my first impression of dallas was except that it was enough that i didn't initially pursue fic about dallas. i think i had the impression he was too mean and then from there i sort of dismissed him. i remember i got annoyed whenever he popped up in johnnyboy fics cause i just thought he didn't deserve johnny's attention from pony.

as i got older though, i read and saw a lot more nuance into the character than what i initially thought. to the point where once i was in my late teens/early twenties, i actively read for him way way more.

as for ponyboy he instantly was king blorbo of my brain. my three big life long blorbos are ponyboy, usagi tsukino/sailor moon, and lestat de lion court. 2/3rds are cancer protags who cry and are emotional the other other one is a bisexual disaster. so.

i think i related to ponyboy instantly as a kid who read a lot while also feeling a level of isolation and a huge penchant for a wild, long imagination. so i think that's why i glommed hard onto ponyboy, esp since he has a mischievous streak that i didn't find in like, hermione at around the same age.

5. my favorite ship of them

11. what's the first thing you think about when thinking about the character?

i usually think of matt dillon as dallas first and the car scene and ponyboy i generally just think about his love of sunsets

i guarantee pony's first one was mama and dallas' was probably a swear word

24. what do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone?

i don't think anyone in canon actually knows dallas' birthday or anything about his actual family. less so that it's a secret so much as that he doesn't think it's important that anyone knows. the gang is his family now.

Honestly probably a mix between Sunchoke by Aly and AJ and You First by Paramore because those were two songs I just listened to so much this year. 3: Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? Definitely Winona Fighter! They're a punk band based out of Nashville and I've been obsessed with them. 9: Best month for you this year? Probably like February. This year has been absolute dogshit tbh and February was the last month before everything kind of blew up. That and I was at Katsucon with friends which was some of the most fun I had this year!
