Jesus.
Any of you other LTC nurses experience almost disgust from other people when they find out you work in a nursing home?
Its awful! I happen to love my job. I worked in an adult family home as a medtech and absolutely loved it. And honestly, my job is hard but I feel like I hit the jackpot where I work. I only have 23 patients, and there is a separate admissions nurse, (that obviously does everything admissions related), and a charge nurse that calls the doctor, does d/c’s, and does order changes. ITS SO DAMN NICE.
I’m a new nurse, and things definitely get hectic, and im not saying my job is easy, but I love it so far.
Im just sooooo sick of people saying that “Oh.” After they hear I’m in LTC.
