World Building Wheneversday: Saari Nwûl
Since I just added her to the OC list I wanted to do one of these on Wednesday. But life got in the way, so I did one now. Feck it. Enjoy! B A S I C S • Full name: Saari Nwûl • Gender: Female • Sexuality: Bisexual • Pronouns: She/Her O T H E R S • Family: Meri Nwûl (Elder Sister, Deceased. Saari was raised by her sister after her parents were killed by other Sith--Meri went on to die in the war against the Republic) | Daraxel Rivvera (First Husband, Deceased. Originally Saari's biggest rival growing up, she and Daraxel wound up falling for each other and marrying despite her family's wishes, and they had a child together--unfortunately, Daraxel made an enemy out of a rival Sith who destroyed their home when Saari was away) | Rhak Rivvera (Daughter, Presumed Dead. Rhak was lost in the same attack that took her father, and although her body wasn't found, it was highly unlikely she had survived the attack--her death spurred Saari into accepting Tremel's proposal) • Birthplace: Ziost • Job: The Empire's Wrath • Phobias: N/A. She's already experienced the most terrifying things that could happen, in her mind. Nothing is scarier than loss. • Guilty pleasures: Her terrible sense of humor should count. She enjoys getting a laugh in at the expense of her "higher ups", even at times when doing so puts her in danger. M O R A L S • Morality alignment?: Chaotic Neutral, and mostly light side. She tries to do the right thing whenever she can, but at the end of the day, she does have to act like a Sith enough of the time that she doesn't fall into the "good" slot. • Sins: lust/greed/gluttony/sloth/pride/envy/wrath; Look, she may be a "defector from decadence", but her armor is still (mostly) golden, so she does have a bit of a greed issue. She's also very much a flirt and even while loyal to Malavai she flirted with Pierce--much to Malavai's annoyance--and even makes a few passes at Jaesa...not that the pure-hearted Jedi ever notices. And for all her tries to do good, once Saari is angry, she is terrifying. • Virtues: chastity/charity/diligence/humility/kindness/patience/justice; Gold armor aside, she does spend quite a healthy sum of credits on her friends and on those who need them--usually to Vette in her attempts to reunite with her family. The rest of her virtues stems from her desire for change in the Empire, and a genuine kind nature that somehow wasn't killed as she grew into a Sith. T H I S - O R - T H A T • Introverted/extrovert; Saari likes people, and likes outgoing people even more. "Nobody parties like a Sith" definitely applies to her. • Organized/disorganized; Not to a meticulous degree, but she keeps her quarters neat and knows where to find everything on the ship. Compared to Malavai she could be seen as a little sloppy. • Close-minded/open-minded; Shockingly so for a Sith. While there is a little bit of push-back, she isn't the sort to force her viewpoints onto other or expect them to only act as she does. Everyone is allowed to their own opinion and devices. It's only when those people harm others that she feels she needs to get involved. • Calm/anxious; A trait that carried over from parenthood. It takes a lot to shake her. Unfortunately, once she does lose her calm, it's very for her hard to get it back. • Disagreeable/agreeable; Saari would much rather talk out an issue than use her saber or fists. Most people that she tries to talk down think she's only doing so to lure them into a trap, so she ends up having to fight them anyway, but dammit she tries. • Cautious/reckless; Not to a very dangerous degree, but even in situations where she could let something be, she'll jump in herself. It's one of the ways she tries to keep others from getting hurt. • Patient/impatient; Another parenting skill. She also has to be very patient in her attempts to change the Empire for good--rushing it might reveal her and Jaesa and get them both hurt. She can't risk it. • Outspoken/reserved; Sometimes to a fault. She will always speak her mind, even to people in
positions of power over her. While it could be seen as arrogance, it's really just her refusing to conform to Sith power balances. (And sometimes she just has to get a jab or joke in and can't stop herself.) • Leader/follower; Because if something starts to go wrong, she wants to be there to take control of the situation. She won't be left to the whims and failings of others ever again. • Empathetic/unempathetic; Saari tries to understand everyone's point of view in a situation, to the best of her ability. Being raised among Sith and with Imperial rhetoric drilled into her can make that harder than it could be, but she knows when to shut up and let the other person talk, and knows how to listen. • Optimistic/pessimistic; Really, the only thing that keeps her going is the belief that she will succeed, change the Empire for the better, and keep others from being hurt as she was. If she stopped holding onto that hope for an instant, she might crumble. • Traditional/modern; Saari loves the customs of her people, but the xenophobia and warring ways need to stop if they're going to survive as a culture, let alone a species. • Hard-working/lazy; Although she knows her limits, she'll work well past them if she knows what she's doing will help somebody else. R E L A T I O N S H I P S • otp: Malavai Quinn. At first, she was teasing him for the sake of getting under that firm, stern exterior. Once she started to have serious feelings™, she backed off and gave him space--which confused Malavai, given what he knew of Sith. Quinncident aside, the two had a very sweet, slightly silly (on her part) courtship, and she does love him dearly. But...she's also afraid of losing him in the same way she lost her first husband, so they keep their relationship a secret. Which means that the whole crew knows, but nobody else. • ot3: If she had to pick a third, Saari did flirt with Pierce a lot before she and Malavai got serious...soooo... • brotp: Vette. Saari lets Vette get in all the bad jokes and pranks, and then adds a few of her own on top of those. Although it dips out of "bro" and more into "surrogate daughter" territory at times, the two of them are terrible together. (Somebody save Quinn.) • notp: Jaesa. A few jokes aside, Saari seriously worries about Jaesa falling in love with anybody. She's not the naive little Jedi she was when they met, but Saari knows how dark she felt when she lost Daraxel, and she fears that sort of pain would destroy Jaesa. Before anything romantic even crosses her path, she needs to get stronger.
