The episode of Long Story Short where Shira is trying to replicate her mom's knishes broke me down crying. The way they portrayed her "failure" and determination to get the recipe right was so accurate to my experience. When I tried to make my grandma's Kolaches the first time, I cried at the smell of the yeast blooming in the milk. It smelled exactly like her house. And when I tried my first batch, my boyfriend loved them but I hated them because they weren't the ones I remember from my childhood.
It took me months to perfect her recipe, 3-5 hours of work at a time, and I don't even think it's the exact same just yet, but I know what it felt to Shira when she took that first bite into her "perfect" ones. It feels like whoever used to make them for you is right there with you.

I really love that they gave Naomi a hamsa necklace. It’s so subtle but it actually adds a lot to her character since the effects and belief of the evil eye itself only holds power as long as you believe in it— it really adds to the victim complex that she carries throughout the series, and how she tends to express a more external locus of control in order to get sympathy from those around her. Absolutely amazing character design for that omg
