For the uninformed: Luke Schenn and Tommy Novak just went to the Penguins, the Preds just got Michael Bunting and a 2026 4th round pick.
So. Trying to figure out how I feel about this. This is the first time Novak's been traded, so I feel bad for him and we've lost one of our lowkey ogs which is a shame but admittedly Bunting is probably an upgrade in terms of offensive ability. I know he was on the Leafs, I wasn't paying attention to what he was doing on the Pens, I don't know exactly how he plays but based on vibes alone honestly he might fit in ok offensively. At the very least we can't get worse. Honestly I'm kinda excited lol.
LUKE SCHENN ON THE OTHER HAND. I mean he chose to sign here but he didn't foresee how shit we'd be and obviously he's been frustrated but also like he's going from one shit yellow team to another not great yellow team. At least Sidney Crosby's there? He's so pookie and idk what this is going to do to our defense since rn it's already in rough shape. However I'm just glad that all of the people who said the Leafs were getting him were wrong because that was dumb and stupid. I've long since come to terms with the fact that he was going to be one of the ones getting the boot since most of the new D guys are younger and thus more valuable to a team that seems to be trying to train up younger guys with the guiding hand of their core and fucking Stamkos and Marchessault and Skjei. Which I will never get over. For the Pens though he can't make their D worse than it already is but they are an old team with no playoff chance this year trading for an older guy so idk what they were doing with that and I wouldn't be massively surprised to see him move again tbh.
