AU based of “Lullaby for a Princess” by ponyphonic WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I used to listen to a lot of MLP fan songs, and with Discord and Gypsy Bard coming back, I went through my old playlists. When I heard this song again, I cried. aNyWaYs, I slapped this together because the dsmp hyperfixiation persists.

LP!Tommy and LP!Wilbur. Brothers. Wholesome.

After fighting for independence, L’manberg is a successful nation, with a peaceful reign.

Wilbur becomes the leader, promising co-leadership to Tommy, however a lot of people don’t take Tommy seriously because of his pranks and “irresponsible behavior.”

Tommy is very affected by the criticism and lack of support, which pales in comparison to the praises that Wilbur receives, who slowly spends less time with Tommy, and more with the new government.

He becomes angry with the promise Wilbur fell-through with. They were a team...supposedly.

Anyways, because people don’t like seeing Tommy and vice versa, Tommy often leaves to go to the forest.

One day (haha funny lovejoy reference), he spots Dream, who disappeared after the war. He follows him to a hidden cave where Dream has been staying. Dream does this knowingly.

“Wilbur’s not looking for you?”

That gets Tommy’s attention. And Tommy, being Tommy, starts calling Dream a whole fucking bitch. Dream simply places his hand on the netherite axe strapped to his back, effectively shutting Tommy up. They end up talking, and Tommy lets a vent slip about Wilbur. Dream listens intently, and consoles him.

Tommy leaves at night, unsure of how to feel.

He continues to go to the forest as usual, but detours to Dream’s base more and more. Dream offers to help him into a better position, and Tommy says he’ll think about it. He doesn’t actually want to destroy what he fought for, but he could do more.

Tommy does change his mind a few weeks later. Wilbur scolds Tommy for being out late in the forest, and Tommy tells him to stop micromanaging him, that all he does is control...and it develops into a full-blown argument. It’s the final straw in Tommy that lets the cracking glass shatter.

Tommy screams for Wilbur to stay the fuck out of his way.

He storms off, leaving Wilbur alone. He calls Phil, feeling lost and unnerved. All he wanted is to let Tommy be free of responsibility, and let him be a kid.

Phil asks Wilbur if he’d like him to visit, and he does. So, he prepares to travel to L’manberg.

[if they literally communicated, there wouldn’t be problems. a shame, really.]

Meanwhile...

Forest again. Dream is there. Dream listens. Dream proposes a solution. They plan.

They plan to burn L’manberg to the ground. It was mostly Dream’s idea, and Tommy feels hesitant about it. But with some convincing, he agrees. Ultimately, Dream is just using Tommy for drawn-out revenge, and plans to pin it on Tommy (no one from L’manberg knows Dream is still around).

Also, Tommy asks Dream to train him. He comes home with bruises and Wilbur doesn’t ask. Tommy has Dream treat him for any injuries anyways, so it really isn’t his business. He also gave him a mask like Dream’s! All is good with Dream :)

But such is the way of the limelight, it sweetly takes hold of the mind of its host

Anyways, about a week or two passes. Wilbur and Tommy avoid each other, and everyone tiptoes around them. Dream says that the materials to burn L’manberg are ready. At night, they sneak in, and Dream tells Tommy to make sure all the nether water (it’s gasoline but minecraft-ified) is spread. Tommy already did the night before, but Dream shoos him off. Says he has to take care of something first.

Dream breaks into Wilbur and Tommy’s house. He spots Wilbur, sitting at his desk, and attacks. It’s a struggle, they roll to the floor. Wilbur manages to shove a bookcase and crushes Dream.

The crossbow hanging from the wall is heavy in Wilbur’s hands, and he shoots Dream without hesitation. His heartbeat thrums against his chest as Dream’s body slumps.

There’s footsteps. Wilbur whips around, sees the fucking black smile plastered on white, and shoots.

And forgive me for being so blind

Tommy crumples.

…

Philza watches a body fall, sending the gifts in his hands to the ground. He rushes to pick up the body when he sees the sword he gave Tommy. Wilbur is shaking, and falls to his knees. Phil picks Tommy up and pushes past Wilbur. Wilbur starts to talk, but with the look Phil gives him, the words die in his mouth.

In the morning, Wilbur wakes up to Phil shaking him. They go downstairs to the kitchen. It’s evident that Philza did his best trying to clean up the house; Dream is gone and the bookshelf is empty but upright.

They’re sitting at the table, with some bread laid out and the morning light coming through the window. It should be a serene scene, but the tenseness in both of their actions make it bitter.

Phil finally speaks; he’s taking Tommy back with him. Wilbur only nods.

It’s for the best.

Phil and Tommy leave.

Wilbur leads L’manberg alone.
