I'm currently being frustrated and trying to focus but it's really hard to focus on anything when the -news- is right there lurking behind my shoulder full of terrible things and stupid people determined that they get to control the narrative of everything and just... I just want to work on my story where someone learns that the system they grew up in is more broken than they ever imagined and do their best to fight the bad parts.
Weirdly I think I'm also being self-defeating because if I -finish- Draft 1.5 than I need to move to new territory and that's -scary- and the shadow of people who I grew up with that made me feel like I wouldn't be good enough is there.
So I guess I'm saying I have a lot of shadows looking over my shoulder right now.

Genres.
There are so many genres. I, clearly, like romance novels. Any type of sub-genre romance too. A lot of my favorite books are paranormal romance, fantasy romance, high/low romance novels.Â
When I mean paranormal romance I mean: Hush Hush (Becca Fitzpatrick), Obsidian (Jennifer L. Armentrout), etc. To me, paranormal romance novels include: fallen angels, angels, gods, aliens, hot aliens, or anything with supernatural ability.Â
When I mention fantasy romance I mean: Cruel Prince (Holly Black), Bloodleaf (Crystal Smith), etc.Â
Iâm not sure if any of you know the differences of fantasy, but there are sub-genres of High and Low. A lot of the differences are mostly time, place, and setting.Â
High Fantasy: when a story is described as being âhigh fantasyâ that means that the story is completely made up. The towns, the kingdoms, and realms etc. For instance, in the novel âA Curse So Dark and Lonelyâ by Brigid Kemmerer is about a girl who is mysteriously transported to an alternate realm. To our human knowledge, this isnât possible. Itâs completely fake.Â
Low Fantasy: and if you havenât gathered âlow fantasyâ still clings on to some resemblance of Earth. Although towns, and places can be made up the âmundaneâ Earth is still recognized. âGracelingâ by Kristen Cashore is a great example. Although this novel contains paranormal notes, for the most this novel takes place on Earth during the medieval age: swords, knights, assassins, kings and queens. The book (which is one of my favorite) âSky In the Deepâ by Adrienne Young is romance novel between enemy, viking clans.Â
So when you see me referring to these terms. Now you know! Â
