it is for ease of education and communication, wc should be common sense but apparently it’s not. for example if one child uses this dialect and the other uses another dialect, how can the school ensure quality of learning?

china has quite a few dialects, even among han people. sometimes a person from one village cannot understand someone from the neighboring village

same reason why english is taught in schools, it is not that english is superior, it’s that it’s the most widely used. u have better opportunities in china if u kno standard mandarin and can communicate efficiently, the same if you want better chances to work abroad you have to have good english, the biggest common language denominator in the given geographical area (difference is, english got spread thanks to colonialism, while standard mandarin is widespread due to its status as common language only lmao)

if tourists come to china is it not true that they will have an easier time if they knew basic standard mandarin? if a big country does not have a common language will it not be confusing which local dialects the foreigner has to learn first?

are you not allowed to speak your preferred language in your own time, in your own conversations? the normal person would say, of course you’re allowed, but actually i can argue that a vast majority if americans actually do believe that if you ‘are in america, you have to speak english’ even if it’s a private conversation, that has nothing to do with them at all, they would openly attack you for daring to speak in your native tongue. is it not hilarious? this so-called country of freedoms cannot even allow this ‘insult’, americans get so angry they want to kick you out of their territory (that they got from murder-robbery against the indigenous, but shhh! it’s a secret)

in canada where indigenous children were literally forced apart from their parents to receive white ppl education

in the uk where the irish population are made to feel as if their culture is inferior, parents are made to feel as if passing down their ancestral language to their children is ‘useless’ ‘impractical’, and apparently gaelic (?) is being banned from gravestones. how insecure are the british lords actually?

in the usa where poc ‘immigrants’ are being terrorized over speaking their native languages ‘speak english or get out’, yet thanks to propaganda ppl believe still the us is a ‘cultural mosaic’

in all imperialist colonies and neo-colonies, where among the colonized / occupied those who speak the language of the colonizer and are most similar to the colonizer get the highest rewards in society, as for those who resist, whole villages get killed off, actually even today whole countries are being bombed into ashes for not ‘assimilating’ into christianity (islamophobia)

there is no real proof of ‘forced assimilation’ in china, however there is assimilation — that is different cultures living together, coexisting in harmony

chinese han ppl have freedom to move into predominantly muslim cities (where there tends to be plenty of space) and uyghurs have freedom to move into predominantly han cities (where it tends to be jam-packed). there is intermarriage between han and uyghur, of course. humans w different cultures sometimes fall in love

your alternative is what — segregation? apartheid? very nice. u want han ppl to move out of china’s muslim-majority territory, leave them alone? (so it’s easier for the cia to to ferment separatism! no thanks.) how about descendants of white settlers all move back to europe, leave the original americans alone, take your christianity back with you? that would be best for all

china is a big country bordered by many countries, we are used to co-existing w different cultures and religions,

unlike the us (wc only has one weak political lackey to the north and then built a useless wall to draw a clear physical line to separate / dis-associate themselves from the one to their south, mexico, a ‘third world country’)

china created the ancient silk road wc was not only an economic hub for countries it ran along, but also facilitated cultural exchanges a very very long time ago

modern china is tolerant of ideas and religions as long as they are not weaponized for political reasons to brainwash our ppl and undermine the power of the cpc, unlike in the west where ppl r deathly afraid of cultures alien from their own

hanfu (汉服) is specific clothing styles of the han ethnicity only. huafu (华服) is the all-inclusive term for traditonal clothing styles of combined chinese ethnicities. ‘han’ means han ethnicity, ‘hua’ means combined 56 ethnicities of china

chinese culture is not only han culture, and chinese history is not only han history

the fact that foreigners, esp from within the imperial core, insist that han chinese are guilty of ‘han chauvinism’ is mainly because in their own societal power structures, white people in fact have more intrinsic value than people of other ethnicities

and their history lessons are only histories of white people

compared to people of european descent, other ethnicities are ‘disposable’ and these same ppl assume all other societies must be as ignorant, indifferent, and intolerant as their own, otherwise what would that make them?
