Cheap Sunglasses
The bar wasn’t some place that James went often, but when invited by a friendly colleague of his he had no reason to resist. Except that he didn’t drink. The alcohol didn’t work well with his medication or so he had been told. Still tonight had promised to be fun, and while it wasn’t exactly a bar that they had ended up going to, he was determined not to be a stick in the mud.
But the bright lights of the club were something he wasn’t used to, so he opted to keep his sunglasses on as he watched all of the younger bodies writhing along to the music. He shivered as he felt one of his darker impulses nudge at his consciousness. He turned towards the bartender, ordering a water as he watched his co-worker order something he’d never even heard of. But perhaps that was because of his upbringing. He shook his head and let out a chuckle as he looked around the room, someone catching his attention, causing him to frown. Something his co-worker didn’t notice as they decided that since it was the weekend it was the perfect time to get wasted. James excused himself as he made his way into the throng of people, hoping to get closer to the figure that had caught his attention.
