insert owen doing puppy eyes @marianne here
It is with a rather SINKING FEELING that green eyes  meet greyed: the fact that the former serial killer is   SO VERY YOUNG has just recently begun to sink in.  He looked like HER DAUGHTER, in some ways ––   even if he WAS older than her child, there were some  DISTINCT similarities between them. Soft-featured,   doe-eyed, small in stature and thin-framed; the parallels  are UNDENIABLE.Â
It makes Marianne feel almost like a MONSTER when   she has to do her job. It is only for so long that she   can PUT OFF carrying out her duties: Lazaro demands  results, and she must produce them, lest she risk losing  her job again.Â
❝ DON’T give me that look, ❞ she finally says, pausing with   the needle halfway to Owen’s thin form. ❝ We’ve been   OVER THIS, dear; you KNOW I have to. âťžÂ
The injection is swift, though the extraction of bone marrow  takes a moment longer. She was supposed to take SEVERAL  samples for the creation of more of her SERUM, but something  stopped her. It WASN’T the fact that Owen looked so young ––  no, THAT wasn’t it at all, she told herself. (A little voice in   her head said OTHERWISE, however, but she chose to IGNORE  it.)Â
❝ –– –– ––We’re done for today, ❞ she says, turning away from   the young teenager rather decisively. ❝ You may REST for a   while, and then I will have you ESCORTED back to the garage. ❞
