Louis-Philippe, who acquired the estate in 1821, had these ground floor rooms completely refurbished for his son the Duke of Orleans and his wife. The parquet is the work of the English engineer George Packham. The ceiling and the walls are due to the architect Viollet-le-Duc, directly inspired by French architecture of the 16th century, which is the time of creation of the castle. The furniture returned to its place following a filing by Mobilier National in March 2018. It is a sofa, six armchairs, six chairs and a fireplace screen lined with Beauvais tapestry. Destined for Queen Marie-AmeĢlie, they were then given to Princess CleĢmentine, one of the daughters of the sovereigns. These rooms, including the large living room, were occupied by Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert during their stay in France in 1843.āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā #france #queen #queenvictoria #princealbert #louisphilippe #mobilier #art #artcollection #castle #chateau #history #england #englishroyalfamily #orleans #orleansfamily #bourbonsorleans #eu #normandie Reposted from @artandfrenchstyle https://www.instagram.com/p/CMcwLsGhgdu/?igshid=1jqcq6ho5lv3m
