Performance von und mit Annie Abrahams und Helen Varley Jamieson
The one who had to learn a new language, who had an accent, who was difficult to understand, the one the others had difficulty paying attention to because she spoke slowly and had bad grammar. The “broken” one. But also the outsider, the one with distance, the one who didn’t know the rules, and so wasn’t obliged to follow them, the one who could also be free.
Annie Abrahams and Helen Varley Jamieson kennen die beschriebene Situation aus eigener Erfahrung. In ihrer Performance machen sie sich daran, die Eigendynamiken der Sprachen zu erforschen. Wie stark wird das, was wir unsere Kultur nennen durch die Sprache geprägt? Inwiefern werden psychische Dispositionen, politische Gegebenheiten, persönliche Prägungen durch Sprache geformt, bedingt? Abrahams und Jamieson laden das Publikum ein mit ihnen in ein Sprachgewirr jenseits eindeutiger Bedeutungen einzutauchen, das eine Welt erscheinen läßt, die unser aller Nomadenhaftigkeit ersichtlich macht.
