You can begin not imagine how good that whiskey cheese cake with strawberry drizzle surrounded with fruit was when it started melting in my mouth. Megan made the absolutely delicious cheesecake. It’s was Megan’s birthday. The party was in full swing when I arrived. I was quickly greeted once I passed through the hidden door of Bar Covell to the back room. There was a den of conversations in the room and I struggled to hear over in conversations that eased as the night progressed. I chatted with a couple of Megan’s friends and a little later with Melanie. My conversation with Melanie delved into a number of subjects that started with her news of a movie premiere she’ll be walking the carpet in London in the next few days. Driven by the subject matter of her film we touched upon Donnie Darko and Halloween in NOLA. Her film is a romantic horror film built around Edgar Allen Poe that is closer in style to Bram Stoker’s Dracula than a slasher. I told her of the NOLA day of the dead and the celebratory walk to worlds end in Bywater. It was a delightful moment in the evening before I bid my goodbyes. I haven’t been in that part of town in ages. Bar Covell was new to me. I think Johnny and Doug were just up the street. It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday evening.
