FOLLOW HIM. - TAPE

To put into text my perspective on this 8 song tape that I released in 2022. A very experimental stage musically and sound wise for me, still learning how to properly mix my own vocals and be my own engineer, songwriter, producer, and lead director was a challenge this early on for me however I ended up being very pleased with how this tape came out. I will say that I do see some flaws within it now looking back at it in 2024.. Heavily inspired by the tastes I had at the time, some artists that inspired me the most during this era were Slutty Sonny, Nocturnal Depression, 7xvn, Xasthur, AdoreBlackMetal, etc.. The original idea for this tape was to be a concept record and to tell a story to the listener as the songs went on, that story being up to your own interpretation as everyone relates to and takes away different things from each song and set of lyrics, just the same way that I see this tape much differently than someone else would. I wanted to capture a raw underground feeling with a sort of natural amateur like sound to some of the tracks to give off a more genuine and realistic approach to the songwriting and overall feel. The track ‘Unknown (The Deity)’ surprisingly became and still is my most listened to song on my spotify with over 8000 listens as of the time of writing this. There is actually a bonus track ‘Black Mirrors Pt. 2’ which is a continuation of the first ‘Black Mirrors’ song I released back in 2021 on the ‘EVIL. EP’. ‘Follow HIM’ is the sequel project to the ‘EVIL. EP’ therefore it had very similar themes art wise, lyric wise, and overall atmospherically. I plan to release ‘Black Mirrors Pt. 2’ as a cassette exclusive which has been planned since the launch date and will hopefully come fairly soon in a limited stock. The music video for ‘Dämonen des Blutmondes’ was very fun to create and edit for me as I thought of the whole thing on the spot one afternoon randomly, I didn’t think i’d make any videos for the tape at all but that turned out to be one of the very few videos that actually shows me in it as of so far. All in all it’s very nostalgic for me to listen to now and I am happy I made it. I definitely plan to make a full length album in the future with ideas based off the ‘Follow HIM’ style. - CASXULS
