a very springlike morning calls for first flush green tea! this is a longjing from a sampler pack that just arrived from iteaworld; i elected to brew it almost grandpa style rather than in a gaiwan, but since i don't sip fast enough for grandpa styling without overbrewing, i had to enlist the help of a french press to stop the first steep where i wanted it.
the first steep had a lovely roasted soybean aroma with a light floral aftertaste; second steep was already less aromatic, a bit sweeter and more anisic. third steep i reverted to actual grandpa style and pushed the heat up a little, but the aroma was mostly faded, just a gentle vegetal umami.
