A single mother. Words I never thought I would have associated with myself. Unfortunately, these words come before anything else these days. Living in Ireland, it is so frowned upon. Its a struggle...
So - I am a single mother. Let’s get that part over with! I am a mother to a handsome 2 year old little boy, who is my life. I am a very lucky girl to have this little guy in my life every day!
How did I become a single mother? Well, his father - my then fiance - walked out one Sunday morning and never came back. He spoke 4 words - ‘I can’t do it’. I will never forget that day, everything flashed before my eyes. My perfect family unit, my wedding in 17 months time, my future, the love of my life, the father of my son. Gone. No conversation, no explanation. No chance to talk.
Fast forward 10 months and I am finally healing. I have been to a therapist, had the support of my family and friends. The only person that got me through everything was my son. He was the reason I pulled myself out of bed every morning, the reason I began to smile & laugh again.
I am trying to get back into the dating world. but it’s so difficult. I never get to go out and meet guys like a regular girl would. I am stuck having to use the internet. And boy is it horrific!! I have yet to talk to anyone who is interested in anything that isn’t a one-night stand. I really hope I will meet my prince charming & live happily ever after....realistically :)
