For so long our people have been told that everything about us was wrong.
…By who?
Also, Miles' good traits would still apply even if he wasn't black. And he didn't already live in one of the most diverse cities in North America.
Also, it's kind of ironic that Miles' plot is about people who keep trying to force him into their idea of how his story should go, and this stupid comment is doing the exact same thing.
I'd also like to point out the comics version hated being reduced to "black Spider-Man". Which pissed off certain people.
Misaimed Fandom: Many accuse the game and its title of perpetuating racist stereotypes of African Americans, despite how the story is about colonialism on the continent of Africa and how African artifacts were looted by colonists.
That's not the fandom.
Many things "looted" by colonists were obtained legitimately for the time, and/or passed through non-white people's hands first.
This is still a game about black people stealing things.
Last time I checked, most men were NOT supposed to be violent unless they were protecting themselves or others.
“Take a couple days off take it off leave nothing but ya t-shirt ya panties on. Damn right imma get that thang imma put my name on it all ni
Okay, so apparently this may have been related to hip-hop specifically. I found this PDF transcript;
BYRON HURT: Good question. If you watch Hollywood movies, you see this same kind of violence, this same kind of hyper-masculine violence perpetuated in movie after movie after movie. In sports culture, video games, military culture. America is a very hyper-masculine and hyper-aggressive nation. GEORGE BUSH: We're gonna smoke 'em out.
That was about the nation as a whole, not men. Possibly other coalition countries too.
After, y'know, the most devastating terrorist attack in history, about Osama bin Laden.
Bush then explicitly said bin Laden would be "bought to justice".
BYRON HURT: So it stands to reason that a rapper like 50 Cent can be commercially viable in a nation that supports a culture of violence. KEVIN POWELL: We live in a society where manhood is all about conquering and violence all the time. What we don’t realize, that kind of definition of manhood ultimately destroys you.
I'm not even sure whether this was supposed to be about black men, hip hop, ormen in general.
"Some people stole other people's creative works for their own gain, and those happened to be the only surviving copies, which proves modern piracy is morally justified because, uh, media preservation or something."
John Lewis Barkley was blown up by Germans in WWI. A tree fell on him, and it broke his gas mask.
It also cured his stutter.
By Prokopetz logic, blowing up the patient is a morally just stutter cure.
Personally, I think "media preservation" is just another in the long line of unconvincing reasons pirates make up to justify getting free stuff.
I'd frankly prefer it if they stopped with the excuses.

The irony is, I've been complaining about people using "disingenous" instead of "liar" for maybe a decade now.
And most of the peopel I've seen doing it have been left-wing. Not exclusively, mind.
Even if they're not a representative sample, the current left-wing equivalent is "grifter", which is also accusing someone of being a liar.
And it's a lot more popular than some random conservatives on tumblr.
Ah, yes, because only conservatives have (checks notes) ingroup buzzwords.
But hey, let's see some of RSW's lie-exposures;
elon wut r u doin
And of course, there were loads of reds talking about how everyone is currenrly working 10 hours a day slaving away to greedy corporations , therefore UBI UHI would be better*.
Ironically, some of them claimed that the AI and robots would be owned by "capital", and so the evil capitalists would be the only ones benefiting.
*Classic commie behavior; attack capitalism instead of supporting communism, and act like they win by default.
Also, I love how reds are always so mad about corporations, when corporations are just legal forms of companies. They need a state to even EXIST.
