I'm just saying she spent her last conscious days asking my aunts for help, and they all said no
And then they had a Catholic funeral mass for her (a non-Catholic), and the priest, who is my aunt's personal friend, gave THE most bullshit-filled sermon that was basically 'shit happens and it's nobody’s fault and she was happy it was her time'
And then we brought COVID-19 home from the fucking funeral

My aunt had so many houseplants in my lola's house (later apartment) and I wonder what happened to them all now that she doesn't have her own place
My Lola's dementia's gotten to the point she isn't able to text or make Facetime calls so I keep feeling guilty for not reaching out but literally cannot
Thinking about this in conjunction with the fact that she gave me her adobo recipe a few years ago (it's not, like, a family secret or anything) and this past spring my (now former) roommate asked for it, so now the way my lola taught me to make adobo is in my friend's home in TX

my lola’s blood pressure was high this afternoon so she texted me, but she started telling me to tell my mom (in case she goes to the hospital) where she hid the money and how to unlock it. she’s never done that before
so now i’m worried
my mom told us last summer about how her lola used to swear when she found out my mom followed her to the market (she pointed at a little girl clinging to the back of her parents’ suitcase and said, ‘i think i looked kind of like that, hanging off the back of the tricycle’)
when her lola arrived at her destination and turned to see my mom next to her, she’d stomp her feet and say various ilocano words, which my mom didn’t quite get bc her family spoke mainly tagalog, and my mom was probably close to my age when her nursing friends in detroit told her that ‘ukininam’ roughly translates to ‘motherfucker’
then her lola would give her a little money to buy candy, to keep her occupied and out of trouble of course, which is why my mom followed her in the first place probably
