Modern AU. Taking into account she doesn't text a lot, Mari's texting style would be one of extreme carefulness. Clean, tidy sentences with as much as possible of just punctuation and correct grammar. She would spend a good amount of time choosing the right words, fuss over weighing them, and for this reason might take a bit to reply to texts. All to be sure to convey her messages as clearly as possible.
Oh, but Lohen would not giggle, nor kick his feet, mind you. He would panic over the control these thoughts are having on him, or be extremely frustrated or resolve to just go and find the subject of those thoughts directly. He just can't bear the idea of Mari storming his thoughts without doing something about it
Let's start from the premise that realistically... well almost nobody wouldn't dare to even think about approaching Lohen when he is in a particularly good mood in Mari's company. That's because the chance of bringing forth his infamous revengeful mischief onto them if they somehow were to ruin that atmosphere isn't worth the risk at all.
But if I were to choose a potential third-wheeler... that would be Varka. But not in the way one would think.
Hehehe... following on the ππ high school AU nonsense...
From then on there goes a back-and-forth of Lohen insisting on borrowing Mari's chemistry notes with the pretense of catching up on missing notes, only to go and correct the inaccuracies when they came back to her desk, becoming almost the norm for them. To the point that one day, while confronting notes, they decided to just... try and study chemistry together after school when their respective clubs didn't run.
Studying with Lohen reveals... more pleasant than Mari could imagine. Because he really was good at chemistry, weirdly enough. So good in fact that sometimes he brought up weird but interesting fun facts that regular lessons didn't cover. And also... it still fell into the territory of what her parents wanted of her, how she should behave and what was permitted of her, as long as it pertained to school. So it was fine.
But it wasn't just that.
It had also been an occasion to get to know him better. Turns out that his delinquent appearance doesn't really encompass what lies behind, at least not all of it. She would go as to say that he is more awkward in his own ways than anything. Not the Mari-fashion awkwardness, timid and reserved and socially inept, but the βweirdo that has his unique way to interact with othersβ kind. As time goes she had found almost relief in that, because in a away it reminded her of her own weird herself, so it had become easy to speak to him more freely. Unlike her, Lohen was just a bit more outgoing and more in tune with the weirdo part of himself in that sense. In her own she was starting to admire that aspect of Lohen.
She wasn't sure about the moment it had... started to become endearing to her eyes then.
And and also...
βHey,β a sly little grin met her as she was brought back from her thoughts. βAgain with that somber expression? What, lost in thoughts, ladybug?β
β...Mhm, yeah,β she pursed her lips because of his prodding gaze. βSorry.β
And then there was that ladybug thing, making things progressively worse for her.
βHeh, I'd say this place is becoming too redundant for us to study.β
βHuh? But it's fine, right? It's not like we are not already attending this place everyday anyway.β
βIt's precisely because of that the repetition it's making itself felt,β he said. βIt's a bit boring, don't you think? Breathing this same air again and again, morning and afternoon, day in day out.β
A strange pang pricked at her chest. β...Do you have something in mind?β
βMhm.β Using his hand to prop his head up, Lohen stared at her, a glint she couldn't place flashing in the crimson of his eye. βLet's take this to my place.β
β...Huh?β

Normally most people would start introducing their yumeship by giving a bit of a insight into their canon universe dynamics first, right? Wrong! My head decided that now we are Thinking about high-school!AU ππ instead. So...
Mari, the quiet, awkward, hates-to-be-perceived, trying to get always top marks because of pressure and parental expectations but unawarely struggling with mental health issues gets unexpectedly approached by the resident βdeliquent-lookingβ classmate who she is trying to avoid like the plague: Lohen.
Laughing at this excerpt of a scenario I wrote down about my Lohen yumeship because it sums up perfectly their exhaustingly (for the people around them) dumb dynamic
