Recently, I attended my first Roscoe Dash concert at Zydeco. Invited by my good friend and popular Birmingham rapper, Q Dot Davis, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.
As I was walking up to the club, one thing that surprised me was the extremely long line of fans trying to get in the club.
For those that think that Roscoe Dash isn’t relevant, I can honestly say that the long line of screaming fans and his sold-out shows would prove you wrong! Considering the fact that Dash hasn’t released an album in four years, his ticket sells shows that Dash still has a loyal following. I overheard an insider say that, “not only did Roscoe Dash sell out the venue, fans kept begging to get in.” The concert was actually #oversold.” Don’t hold me to this, but I was also told that an estimated 550 tickets were sold to this concert! Now if I did the math, I would say that’s what you call a #Sellout.
Being the curious person that I am, I kinda wondered why so many people gravitated to Dash. Why were fans still excited to hear his music as if it just came out? I believe the answer is, “Dash has a unique way of captivating fans with his loyalty.” His interactive concert was definitely centered around what his fans life.
In a music genre where rappers are promoting violence, Dash controversially promoted his #LoveIsFreeHateCost message. Venturing away from the norm, Dash appeals to fans who simply want to have enjoy love. No matter your age, you definitely have to be ready to party if you plan to check out his show. You can’t go to a Roscoe Dash concert if you’re not trying to be, “All the Way Turnt UP!” I know, a corny play on words, BUT IT’S THE TRUTH!
Talking to Dash after his show, I can honestly say that my fellow Atlien is very humble when it comes to his music career.
You can easily tell that he realizes that a hit album doesn’t make him better than his fans. If more artists would follow Dash’s lead, it would be easier for them to equally mimic the success of his sold-out shows.
