Chrom holds out a fuzzy kitty phone strap with sparkling pink gems for eyes. The tiny object was smothered in glitter and smelled faintly of strawberries. What’s more, it let out the faintest mechanized mewl as its tail swished to and fro.

School was the part of the day Sapphire dreaded the most. Teachers constantly asked her to read out loud from the textbook, and they very well knew that the words on the page looked jumbled to her. They only did it to bully her. But once she got the best grades in the class, she’ll be the one laughing at them. She had the smarts, it was just difficult to read and write.

After an excruciatingly long period of science, where she didn’t even understand optics, the unit they were on, it was finally lunch time. Most people loved lunch time, but for her, it was hell. The boy she usually sat with was a complete lunatic, talking about beauty and other things Sapphire couldn’t care less about. At least in class she doesn’t have that idiot chatting her ears off about nonsense.

But, he was absent today. And as much as she hated to admit it, he was her only friend so far at this school, and she was going to be lonely.

Well, no time like the present to make new friends!

She entered the cafeteria with her tray of food, looking around to see if there was anyone she recognized from any of her classes. To her right was the cheer squad, showing off their making and other girly stuff. Gross. To her left were just a bunch of nerds reading from their textbook, not even looking at one another. Boring.

Then, her blue eyes landed on a girl, sitting all alone. She didn’t seem girly at all. Perfect. Maybe Sapphire could hold a decent conversation with her.

‘Oi Fleur, catch.’

                                   The raven tossed a juice box in her direction, sipping at his own in the same instance. His body crept closer as the box flew in the air and just as it landed (whether she caught it or it landed on the couch) he settled to sit beside her.
