Holding These Balloons is LocalBlac’s second release of 2021, following up his stellar EP, Masked Assailants, with producer Tone Spliff.

The 15 track LP was primarily produced by Ayo Dlo and features JZAC, Tone Spliff, K. Angeles, Ahseo, E-1 Beats and ilyVALENTINE.

LocalBlac is back on #Hashtaghiphop and this time we are happy to be reviewing his most recent, self titled album “Local Blac“. This project is comprised of many well conceptualized tracks ranging from hard hitting bangers to smooth, witty compositions. To accompany these tracks there are also a few interludes to pick your brain. Truly an artist in his OWN lane, Local knows how to uniquely get his point across, maintaining a true aura of originality.

One thing we love about this album is that you can hear real instrumentation being implemented into every song. This is REAL music from start to finish. The lyricism over the production blend to near perfection as each second passes. There are a bunch of cool samples from vocals to sound effects which add to the vibe. Personally, we are quite fond of the arcade game sample at the start of track #5 “Jarhead”

“Can’t Melt" is a great slowdown track on the album. The beat is so smooth and makes you just want to close your eyes and relax. It puts you in a care free state of mind as the horns move over the bass and claps. From time to time, everyone needs to "slow their pace”. We are intrigued by the metaphors throughout “Can’t Melt”, many hidden messages in this one to uncover.

The whole project is full of conscious rap, knowledgeable bars and top notch production. We are not one to compare artists but we hear some essence of Ab Soul over the course of the album. As we said before, LocalBlac is an artist in his own lane though, don’t get it twisted. He was able to construct a 14 track piece of art that speaks true to himself and his vision. Many scenarios discussed on “Local Blac” are relatable to people from all walks of life. We highly suggest you take the time to sit down and listen from track 1-14 and hear for yourself.
