The world feels undeniably bleak right now. Who could predict that all the dystopian media we consumed like fiends in the 90s and early 2000s would come to life? I much preferred when the Handmaid’s Tale was fiction. If one more Canadian utters some variation of “it’s not going to impact us here” I am going to lose my mind. It will impact us here (it already is!). If you aren’t paying attention…

"Create "social proof," actions, mobilize your community, stop waiting for Democrats, and start getting it DONE"
1. Social proof actions are where people start to speak out in small daily ways to let others know that they're not alone. It sounds simple but it's really powerful. Put up a sign, Make a post, write a song, respond to someone's idiotic statement. Organize an international food truck festival. Anti racism dance parties. Organize a die in at a corporate headquarters.
2. Don't wait for someone to lead. Do your own action. And show up to those school board meetings. Seriously. This is where one body can make an outsized impact
3. Contact your elected officials. Everyday. If you can't do everyday do it every week. Engage in “Mangione without murder”
In summary....
1. Pick the thing that you're most interested in (education, climate, immigrant protections).
2. Go as local as possible about that thing. School, city, county, state
3. Do something social and fun, bring along friends, organize a potluck
4. Wear your beliefs. Pull out that t-shirt, put up that sign.

Facing one of the fastest urbanisation rates in the world, Honduras is leading this initiative to explore sustainable solutions for city development through neighbourhood upgrading. These challenges include urban poverty, inadequate housing, and vulnerability to climate change.
This side event at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum will focus on "Transforming Neighbourhoods" through the effective localization of national urban policies. We will delve into adaptive strategies for urban planning that address specific neighbourhood challenges, emphasising the importance of national policies in facilitating sustainable and resilient urban development. This session is intended as a follow-up to the 2023 HLPF side event, offering new opportunity for Honduras and other Central American countries and the Dominican Republic to advance discussions on sustainable urban development from holistic perspectives at national, regional and local levels.
