next time, for sure.
there’s a sinking in his chest as slytherin is announced way too early. he had honestly hoped for at least second place, if not first itself, and it stings his pride to lose to their historic rivals despite all of the friends he has in that house. he claps for them anyways, a little more enthusiastically than some around him who only move at all out of extreme politeness. at least he can be honestly happy for jimmy and lucy and their classmates despite his own defeat.
he flinches when fireworks go off with a bang! only to immediately relax when he realizes it’s fireworks and not the castle suddenly coming apart on their heads, outraged that slytherin lost ( he likes to think that the castle favors slythetin; he doesn’t have a reason, he just does ). it’s only then that he lets out a whoop, waving his arms wildly to get lucy’s attention and give her a thumbs up. his mom is great, truly, and if slytherin wins next year he’s definitely going to follow in her footsteps. with a snake instead of a lion, of course. snakes are so much cooler anyways.
for only a moment he wonders if dem would kill him for doing something so stupid, but then he realizes that he doesn’t care. it’d be damn fun. the summer is going to rock too, with that trip he has yet to plan with lucy and catching up with his little siblings who still seem a bit distant from him. he’s gotta work on those relationships, it’s not entirely his fault that his school is inaccessible to them and he’s gone for most of the calendar year. he brushes negative thoughts that had begun to creep into his mind and instead focuses on the good. japan, summer, winning next year. all happy thoughts.
