Do the twins have activities they enjoy doing with their parents? Like, cooking or art with MK or fixing stuff with Red?
I have been sitting on this for way too long cause I read it and went “…oh my god. I have no idea.”
MK and Red both, but mostly MK, baby Xiaobo wayyyy too much. So, as an example, Xiaobo will ask to help cook, start stirring some sort of mixture in a bowl, and MK will step in to grab his hand and help him stir.
This is made worse by the fact that Xiaobo had a speech delay.
Luckily, though, Macaque doesn’t put up with that and once he FINALLY convinces MK that Xiaobo is more like an adolescent than he is a toddler, MK starts doing more stuff with him.
Specifically, setting up a whole obstacle course in their vacation home out in the wilderness for the two of them to race through and play together in. MK, obviously, goes easy on Xiaobo but he still takes some wins from time to time. Gotta keep the little guy humble.
That set up has been fantastic for Xiaobo and MK enjoys it just as much.
Peter, however, doesn’t feel good about doing that sort of thing.
Sure, he loves to swim, but nobody else in his family seems into it. (Unless you count Uncle Sandy but this ain’t about him)
Much like how Peter and Princess Iron Fan spend time together by sitting in her library reading, Peter and Red’s quality time is usually spent with meditation.
MK will meditate with them on occasion, but he always gets restless and bored and uses Xiaobo as an excuse to leave the other two to their quiet-contemplation.
Otherwise, any time Peter is spending time with his parents, it’s usually him sitting in a corner, reading a book, studying or even meditating on his own. He prefers to soak in people’s company rather than loudly be apart of it.
(Except for Xiaobo. He and Xiaobo get real rowdy with each other real quick)

How do the twins view Wukong? And if they view him positively, how does Red Son deal with that
Peter and Xiaobo both see him as their fun-loving Uncle Monkey King, but Peter is more nervous around him (Wukong was never good at hiding his preference for cute little monkey boy Xiaobo)
The one thing they both get annoyed at Wukong for is how he will trash talk their Bàmā (Red) in front of them - and sometimes directly TO them as if they would agree with him. But they still know he cares about them both so they both still love him as the long time family friend he is.
Now, how Red Son feels about that, I never considered before.
He’s definitely always annoyed and grumbly towards Wukong when he’s around (similar to his relationship with Nezha but that relationship still has a genuine sense of respect from both sides in it)
When the twins are old enough for Xiaobo to talk, anytime Red and MK start talking about babysitters or sending the twins to spend a vacation with someone else for awhile, Xiaobo will immediately request Uncle Monkey King.
And every time, Red shoots it down immediately. He thinks Wukong is a bad influence on them (not really a bad assumption but he’s not any worse than Mei, really) and he also knows Wukong is always talking shit.
So, really, Red’s attitude towards Wukong is the same as it was at the end of Man Yue. Begrudging acceptance that he is part of the family, whether he likes it or not.
Wait, how did everyone react when they found out that the Spicynoodles twins aged differently. We know how Xiaotian and Red felt, but what about everyone else?
That’s an excellent question that I’m surprised I never thought about before.
Monkey King was the first to pick up on the abnormality and then proceeded to freak out and assume it was some demon curse instead of just a natural thing in Xiaobo’s genes. Which is a theory not helped by the fact that Peter doesn’t seem to have this “affliction.” MK got caught up in Wukong’s theatrics but Red Son would shut it down hard every time it was brought up.
Pigsy’s another person who got caught up in Wukong’s theory. He would end up doing whatever he was told by the Monkey King in order to help his grandson out, including almost going on long journeys with him. MK and Tang stop him before he could run off and had to be the ones to calm him down.
Speaking of Tang, he would inwardly be freaking out and when no one else was around he would end up like that one clip from Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The one where the guy has this massive conspiracy theory board with all the red thread’s connecting everything. Eventually he would come to the right conclusion, though. That it’s just how demon, human and half-demon biology works.
Mei is a bit of a wildcard so it’s harder to pin down what her reaction would be. On the outside she would just shrug and accept it for what it is. Xiaobo’s maturing slower than Peter. That’s fine. Means more time to play with a cute toddler. Though she would have her own fair share of anxieties about it. She worries about if Xiaobo will ever make friends outside of the family MK built up, if Peter will always be there to support him, if MK can handle having a child stay at those early stages for so long and how long she can keep up with his never ending energy.
But she never lets those worries show. She just keeps a close eye on him.
DBK would be more concerned about Peter than anything since him and PIF were expecting Xiaobo’s rate of maturity for them both. He would gladly take MK’s surprise about Xiaobo as permission to babysit for long periods of time. Which basically means all but kidnapping him under the insistence that MK’s clearly tired of having a little toddler and DBK has ALL of the experience for this exact situation so obviously he should get to keep Xiaobo himself.
That never goes over well with Red and MK.
Especially since Red Son feels embarrassed every time he has to remind his father that he knows what he’s doing as well and can absolutely handle this.
Princess Iron Fan tries so hard to keep a cool air about her but it slips every time she visits and sees how much bigger Peter’s gotten. She’s not the biggest fan of his quick growth and, similar to Wukong, initially thinks there’s some curse placed on him. MK and Mei end up being the ones to relax her fears on that front.
Sandy is the most relaxed and accepting about it. He was certainly surprised when he took notice of it, but he figured MK and Red Son could handle it. They’re not his kids after all and if they seem to be okay with it and working it out, then there’s no reason for Sandy to be upset about it. He’ll just be there for whatever MK and the boys might need from him.
Overall, Xiaobo maturing much slower than a typical human would have surprised the Monkie Kid crew enough on its own but pairing it with Peter maturing exactly how a human would sent some of them into a panic. Meanwhile DBK and PIF are concerned about Peter more than anything but Red Son assures them it’ll be perfectly fine - especially since he uses the opportunity to feed into their ego and express how having them there to help is exactly why it’ll be fine.
Hello hello! These twin boys are two of my fan-characters for LEGO Monkie Kid (Bro help I've made so many LMK OCs wtf I usually have one OC per fandom and now I have five and a half for this fandom alone what is thiiiiiis)
(My 'quick blurbs explaining the other two pictures in this post' turned out much longer than expected so here's a read more)
Peter and Xiaobo are the biological children of MK and Red Son 'cause my Spicynoodle obsession is a problem.
MK goes by "Bàba" for "Dad" while Red Son goes by "Bàmā" as a casual term for "parent" cause in the universe the twins are born into, my girl is agender and he will accept any pronouns thrown at them anyways sooooo might as well use the gender-neutral title to keep things simple.
MK and Red Son would often argue about names with Red Son wanting to stay wholly traditionally Chinese while MK wanted "something cool and different and foreign." When they turned out to be twins there was a nice quiet moment that ended with MK quietly stating "Sorry for throwing the remote at you that one time..." and then they got to have both.
They are both born in their non-human forms and struggle with learning how to transform into their human forms until they reach a certain mental and physical maturity. (what we would consider typical of kids around eleven)
They can both be very mischievous and will each have their 'I'm gonna cause problems on purpose' moments but with Xiaobo being the far more extroverted of the two, once he's mentally old enough(I'll explain that later) to be capable of the more complicated pranks, he is easily blamed for all of them.
Their personalities are more alike than different but Peter is still a more introverted person with Xiaobo being more extroverted.
And here we have Red Son making a massive mistake in raising Peter that is 100% the fault of how DBK and PIF have treated Red in the show. (Called this one "High Expectations")
Red Son quickly and easily takes note that Peter clearly takes more after him physically and thus expects him to have similar - if not literally the same - powers to himself. Despite neither of his parents having powers related to fire. So while Xiaobo can't for reasons I'll get into under the second picture, Red Son takes Peter to his old training grounds in India on a "special bonding trip" and, well, attempts to awaken some sort of demon-like powers in Peter.
Peter has no such powers and as of right now I am on the fence of ever giving him any at all. Even if I do decide to give him any, they won't be awakened here.
This pressure and desire to make his Bàmā proud of him ends with him having some serious low self-esteem issues forever and always. When MK picks up on this, he corners Red and declares "You're going to therapy. Actually, you're both going to therapy. In fact - we're ALL going to therapy!"
Red Son isn't a terrible parent and is hardly a toxic one but this experience absolutely leaves a lasting impact on Peter that is not so easily washed away by Red Son figuring it out and apologizing.
It takes work but they make it work.
And in this one titled "He'll Grow Up" we see what appears to be a 16 year old Peter and a 2 year old Xiaobo. But... they're twins. What gives?
Well, it has been 16 years since their birth so Peter has and is developing the way we'd expect a typical human to develop but Xiaobo has been developing a bit slower, to say the least.
In this universe MK has fully inherited Monkey King Spiritual Primate status and thus has that 'immortality'(which I've been told is more accurately just being super mega long-lived but let's keep this shit simple) thing as well as his own monkey form.
But he was still born as "Just a Dude(tm)" so his aging process was that of a regular human until the start of the show where I interpret him to be 22/23. This is why Peter ages the same as a regular human.
But Red Son (to my understanding) as Red Boy in Journey to the West was what everyone refers to as 'essentially a toddler' while actually being 300 years old. (this is all second-hand knowledge please don't kill me about any inaccuracies I did my best I swear). Which means that his aging rate was much much MUCH slower.
While Xiaobo's isn't quite that slow, it is still slower. He'll hit that 'fully developed prefrontal cortex' 25 year old brain maturity at around age 50. (this rate might change - I'm still playing with it).
So here we have MK ruminating on the fact that one of his sons is mentally 2 when he should be 16, Red Son worrying over MK in his own Red Son way (basically Red Son doesn't entirely see why MK should be worried about this and I am just about to write a quick one-shot where Red confronts MK about it) and Peter trying to figure out if he's crazy or if the soda he's drinking tastes funny.
Bonus for my first LMK OC Kumi and Wukong as plushies
