TW: mentions of pregnancy, pregnancy complications, death,
Wukong was guided into a private dinner room with a large table with just enough seats for their growing family.
Most of the Plum Hill Boys sat around the table with untouched plates and silverware set before them. Erlang Shen showed Wukong, Nezha, and Red Son to their designated seats.
SWK: How long did it take you to come up with the seating chart?
Erlang: Too long. Way too long.
~~~
Wukong sat with Nezha to one side, and Red Son to the other. There was an empty chair meant for Jinzha between Nezha and Erlang. Muzha sat to Red Son's free side.
RS: Okay, so that one is Yang, right?
SWK: That's Yao. None of them are named Yang.
RS: I still can't get them all straight.
~~~
Nezha sensed Jinzha enter the building, but something was... off. He couldn't tell for certain, but it felt like Jinzha was... farther along than he should be?
Then Jinzha entered the room. Paler than he should be, sweating, slightly out of breath...
... and just noticeably swollen in the middle.
Nezha: Brother?!
Jinzha: *panting* Sorry for my tardiness, it was so hard for me to get out of the door this morning!
Nezha: Apologies aren't needed, Brother! Please, let me help you sit.
Jinzha: Of course. *sits with Nezha's help* Is the food ready yet? I haven't eaten yet.
Nezha: Food will be here soon. Are you feeling alright? You seem quite pale.
Jinzha: *stuttering* I just need food. I just need food.
Jinzha: The little one is growing faster than expected. They're demanding so much of me, it is so hard to keep up. All I do is sleep and eat.
Jinzha: And puke. A lot.
Erlang: Well, food will be here soon. And I don't think the matriarch of our family would mind if you are served first.
Jinzha: It is. I have spoken to my doctor and midwife about it. So far we're doing alright. The little one is safe. They're just growing rapidly. Quite the opposite of you, my littlest brother.
Nezha: But are you safe, Brother?
Jinzha: I'm not sure. I hardly ever feel well, though that might be the morning sickness. It's been hard to tell.
Jinzha: Oh! Brother!
Nezha: What?! What is it?!
Jinzha: *grabs Nezha's hand* *places it firmly on his midsection and holds it there*
Nezha's eyes went wide as he felt the tiniest little something hit his hand from within his brother's womb, likely the little one's foot or hand.
Nezha: Oh... how precious... oh gods...
Nezha: Hello in there, little one! It's your Uncle Nezha! It's so nice to meet you!
Jinzha: *woozy* Yeah... the little one likes y- *passes out* *flops to the side*
Nezha: *catches him* BROTHER!!!!!
Jinzha startled back awake. He was still quite pale and now breathed slow and soft. It took him a few moments to gain enough clarity to speak and respond.
Though he didn't exactly respond to an questions.
Jinzha: Food? Can I have food?
Erlang: Food is coming, I promise! Only a minute more. Here, drink some water.
Li: *hands Erlang a cold water bottle*
Jinzha: Food?
Erlang: Water. Here, drink. *helps Jinzha drink bit by bit*
Yao: The midwife is on her way here.
Erlang: Good. We'll need her advisement.
~~~
Jinzha had passed out likely from a vitamin deficiency, according to the midwife. He would have to be tested for it on a later date and be prescribed supplements.
The midwife explained that vitamin and deficiencies were common during pregnancy and that-
SWK: I could have told you that!
Erlang: Wukong, not now, please.
SWK: My children stole my damn calcium!
Erlang: Wukong.
Nezha: *trying reeeally not to laugh at Wukong's words*
RS: I didn't steal any!
SWK: Oh, yes you did!
RS: I only took what was freely given!
Nezha: *turns around to hide his laughter*
Food was given to Jinzha who, as soon as he realized he was being fed, took and scarffed down every last bite.
Jinzha was cleared to stay for dinner on the condition that he didn't go too long without food. Nezha didn't hear the exact time agreed, but Erlang promised to take point on Jinzha's care.
Muzha: Why can't Mr. Lee's class be this interesting?
RS: Because he teaches literacy.
~~~
Wukong was given a number of gifts by the family. Jinzha received a few gifts too, though did politely inform those who didn't know that he was a Baba, not a Mama.
He accepted them all the same.
Wukong and Jinzha were given necklaces that were nearly identical except for one key detail: there was a charm for every baby they had.
Jinzha's necklace had a small charm shaped like the word "first" on it. Wukong's had charms all around it, each unique, though some were more obvious about who they represented than others.
Yao: We tried to make them accurate to each child, but we didn't get the opportunity to get to know most of them, so we tried our best.
Kang: They're in chronological order if it helps you to tell who's who.
SWK: Aw! You got all of them on there! Even the ones that aren't with me anymore, they're here!
Muzha: Some have passed?
Nezha: Indeed. Wukong made 28 in total over the centuries, but only 17 of them are left. Though we did welcome forth our adopted son, so the number is up to 18.
SWK: And look! He's here too! Look, he's a little moo cow right at the end here.
Jinzha: *slightly horrified* ... How did you do that... also why...
SWK: I've said it before and I'll say it again. *points to Red Son* That is the only one I had on purpose. None of the other ones were my idea.
Jinzha: Sweet Buddha.
SWK: No sane person would make that many children on purpose.
Here are their outfit refs and various head canons and lore ramblings if you scroll further, you know the drill :3
Zhenying is good friends with Longnü and Ao Lie despite being two years younger than them. She's been friends with Longnü since she was two and met Ao Lie after she became an immortal
Zhenyingās design draws loosely from the Chinese Oriole, a bird symbolising joy and friendship
Yes, all of Nezha's siblings knew about his and Ao Bing's friendship when they were younger. It's just Muzha that's oblivious to their current relationship
Jinzha has long since graduated from being Wenshu Guangfa Tianzunās disciple and now works as a member of the Court of Heaven as one of the Five Wisdom Kings
Muzha is a senior disciple of Guanyin, along with one Ao Cinxin. āSenior discipleā is more a of a courtesy title, as Muzha more of an assistant to Guanyin than a student
Zhenying is currently a disciple of Yuding Zhenren, the same deity that taught Erlang Shen. None of her brothers are thrilled about this
Erlang Shen is the one who recommended Zhenying for the work of a fighter pilot for the Celestial Army. It stresses Li Jing out
Muzha is the one who actually introduced Ao Cinxin and Erlang Shen to each other, having been long time acquaintances with them both. He likes bragging about the fact that he got them together, by complete accident
Nezha loved his mother deeply. She was the person who built his first (and favourite) temple but also she was good and kind and helped his best friend through the worst time of his life when Nezha didn't know how. He'll always respect her for it
Nezha's reasoning for still sticking close to his father despite all the shit Li Jing puts him through is because of how much Lady Yin loved him. There must have been a reason his mother loved his father so much, right? There mustāve been. There must've. Why can't Nezha see it then?
Jinzha looks the most like Lady Yin. None of them look like Li Jing all that much. In fact, they all get very insulted if someone ever says that they look like their dad
Before his suicide and rebirth, Nezha's eyes were brown. They're now more reddish
Muzha has heterochromia, his right eye is grey and and left is brown
Zhenyingās rankings for her brothers goes as such:
Muzha. She and him are very like minded and she gets along best with him as a result. It's also him that she sees most often in the Celestial Realm. He's twelve years her senior
Jinzha. She doesn't see him as much but she admires that he's very hardworking and would stand for the things he believes in. He is sixteen years older than her
Nezha. Zhenying holds a lot of hate and resentment for her third brother. They have an eight year age difference
Jinzha is actually allergic to lotus root. It's nothing serious, he just gets hives if he ingests some, but it sucks because a lot of specialties of Chengtang Pass are made with lotus root
He also gets itchy after he kisses Nezha on the cheek or things like that, since Nezha's body is made of lotus paste. Nezha protests against Jinzhaās affection, not wanting to trigger his allergy, but Jinzha does not care lmao. Muzha even encourages it
Muzha is the one that gets along with all of his siblings' teachers and often has tea with them. Sometimes, Zhenying will also tag along. This is how Zhenying enlisted Taiyi Zhenrenās help in resurrecting Ao Bing
Muzha is the most sociable out of the four of them, and he looks the most approachable by far
Zhenying greatly admires Ao Bing, mostly because of how highly both Longnü and Ao Lie spoke of him. She hates that she does not remember him more
Muzhaās most prized possession is a pair of gold hoop earrings that he inherited from his mother
Li Jingās favourite child is Zhenying
Nezha still keeps up frequent contact with his older brothers. It's just Zhenying that he doesn't speak to often, not like she wants to speak to him anyway
Zhenying is just a smidgen taller than Nezha. He's the shortest out of the four of them and he's not happy about it
Muzha has a fierce loyalty to their father. To the point where he was injured by Nezha during a fight between him and Li Jing. Theyāve long been over that incident and Muzha loves his father and younger brother very much⦠but even he has to admit sometimes that his father can go too far
On the other hand, Jinzha prefers Nezha over Li Jing. He hates his fathers temper, something that both Nezha and Zhenying inherited, and wishes that he could be more rational at times
Zhenyingās the most doted on by Li Jing. Sometimes, it makes her feel guilty that he loves her so much in comparison with her brothers, especially when Zhenying herself would much rather her own mother than her father
Muzha dresses the most casual since itās rare that heās actually attending celestial court meetings
While all the Li siblings are friends with at least one of the East or West Sea dragons, (Ao Bing for Nezha, Longnü for Zhenying, Cinxin for Muzha,) Jinzha is actually friends with both Ao Jia and Ao Mo'ang
Muzha: Wow da ge! How come dad lets you have two dragon friendships?
Jinzha: Diplomatic relations lmao
On second thought, maybe it's just Muzha that doesn't have a second friendship with a royal dragon, since Zhenying and Nezha both knew and were friendly with Ao Lie. But does that count when he's dead?
Nezha and Zhenying's dynamic on the days where they're chill with each other:

WARNING! Below you shall find Mature content for Lego Monkie Kid! You have been warned!
Truthfully, if not for Muzhaās hand on his shoulder, steady, firm and assuring, a silent promise that he would not allow this foolishness and Jinzhaās harsh reprimand to their father across the table of the ruined Court, Nezha knew he would have lashed out by now.
His reason?
Li Jingās utter and complete disregard for the safety of others and his ridiculous plan to storm Flower and Fruit Mountain to demand answers from Sun Wukong and, if necessary, imprison both him, and the savage child at his side.
Nezha didnāt know whether it was foresight, divine intervention or just that Erland Shen knew his father well enough to keep Muzha and Jinzha close by when Li Jing proposed that insane notion to the still ruined Court, because if not for them, Nezha would have forsaken any and all bounds that could possible remain between him and Li Jing and attacked the man for such an outrageous idea. Especially now that there was very little Heaven could do to stop Wukong if the Monkey King lashed out, and having witnessed what he had, learned what he had and seen just how close the boy was to Wukongā¦
Wukong wouldnāt even give Heaven a chance to explain if they showed up with even the hint of force behind their actions. Heād act and there would be no mercy.
It would be war and-
āWe can not simply do nothing!ā Li Jing snarled. āThe Monkey King was only brought to heel by the actions of Merciful Guanyin and yet still, he is reckless, undisciplined and wild! This boy will be no better if we do not intervene now and set him on the right path!ā
āYou would risk a second bout of Wukongās fury upon us? We are barely steady in our own ranks right now and you seek to march in force against the one person who just proved himself able and capable of decimating the Heavens!ā Someone snarled right back, Nezha didnāt know who, he was too focused on trying to contain his inner self.
āWe have access to the Binding circlets now, the Monkey King was trained with them once, he can be so again.ā Li Jing stated coldly.
THATāS IT! Let me out! Iāll show him!
āNo.ā Nezha hissed, closing his eyes and trying to focus his attention inwards, trying to stop himself.
āLittle brother?ā Muzha questioned, able to feel the way his younger brother fought to try and contain himself, to prevent the outburst that was so very, very close to boiling over! āJinzha!ā he called as he stepped back, pick flames began to burn and flicker around his little brother, a sign that the limits were about to break.Ā
āLittle brother, please.ā Jinzha said, trying to calm the situation. The last thing they needed was an outburst, but it seemed the stress and frustrations of the past few days along with this new lunacy from their own father had pushed too far.
Still, Jinzha saw Nezha grip his own arms tight, so tight his nails dug deep into his skin, saw the way Nezha bit into his lower lip, saw the way he wound the sash around himself, trying to bind himself, to restrain himself and distract from the anger through pain.
āNezha, please calm yourself.ā Erlang Shen tried to command, hoping his words were firm and clear enough to cut though the haze they knew was upon the third lotus prince, but it seemed the anger was too much.
āYou unruly boy, behave yourself at on-ā
āShut up, Li Jing!ā Another General snarled. āYouāre not helping.āĀ
The flickering grew into steady flames, even as Nezha dropped to his knees and sent his wheels away, giving himself less power to draw on, the heat was building and if something wasnāt done, there would be an outburst.
Knowing no good would come of this, and knowing he had no way to protect Nezha from Li Jingās wrath at such an outburst, the newly appointed acting Emperor turned to his brothers and commanded. āChang Hao, Jin Dasheng, Yang Xian. Place a barrier around him to contain the flames. Wu Long, Zhu Zizhen. Prepare to restrain him only if necessary. Xiaotain Quan, go and get Ao Bing. Now.ā
Nezha barely responded to the world around him, what remained of his self-control and the knowledge that if he did this, especially now of all times, heād be in that awful room in the Pagoda, alone, and unheard for who knows how long. No one would remain to warn Wukong or MK, no one to watch over the children in this uncertain and terrible time-
But Iām within my rights! That inner side of himself screamed in outrage. Heāll ruin everything! Heāll hurt them and make everything worse! He always does!Ā
Yes, you are right, but we cannot throw a tantrum right now. He tried to reason, to strike at the Monkey King and his family now when they were all still recovering from what Azure Lion had done to them would bring only more destruction, there was no other outcome to such action. Youāll only make it worse!
Worse?! If Li Jing does this, Chi Yue will get involved! She loves the Monkey Kid like her own, We know this! If she calls for aid, both the Mortal Realm and the Underwould will answer, not to mention the conflicts that would arise within the Heavens! The inner part of himself foretold, and Nezha felt the flames grow hotter and higher around him.
Stop it!
Let me out! Iāll show that old fool just how mistaken he is! Let. Me. OUT!
Li Jing would risk countless more lives, potentially cause a calamity so large none of the Three Realms would be untouched by it!Ā
No! No. Donāt think about it. Donāt get lost in the justifications, no matter how true or honest they were. Donāt get swept up in self righteousness and get carried into a position that would leave no one to act as an aid. Donāt lose it. Donāt lose it. Donāt lose it!
The scent of lotusā and fresh mountain air surrounds him, a frail, gentle but still firm hand to his cheek, tender and kind despite the oppressive flames and then, pressure, just for a moment, right over that one spot on his neck that rendered him boneless and effectively removing all magic and effects upon him in one simple touch while also snuffing the flames out as if they were a candle rather than an impending eruption.
The screams of his inner self faded into nothing, soothed back into slumber by a person who had always treated him as kin, the shame of being unglamoured in front of others was forgotten, because two sleeves cradled him in warm fabric, surrounding him in that familiar safe scent that promised to shield him from mocking.
āMaster Taiyi Zhenren.ā Wu Long greeted somewhere to the right, his tone was respectful but his voice was tight and held an edge to it.
āMasterā¦?ā He managed to weakly ask, his world fading rapidly to darkness. āI-ā
āI am here, my student. You need not fret, I will handle this outrageous stupidity of the Pagoda Bearing Generalās.ā There is a sound of shock and rage further away, but Nezha doesnāt have the energy or thought to care. Not when his master holds him so surely and speaks with such certainty.
Father- Master will stop this madness.
āYou-ā
āBe silent, General Li Jing. I will deal with you and your foolās errand momentarily. Ao Bing.ā The voice of his master assured and then Nezhaās world shifted, no longer surrounded by the scent of lotusā and fresh mountain air, held in long dark wool woven sleeves that shield his smaller form from prying eyes. Instead Nezha was held in soft bright silk, just as familiar and safe, and now surrounded by the scent of sea salt and deep ocean flowers. āTake Little Nezha to my mountain, he will recover better there, away from such reckless and impulsive discord.ā
āYes Master.āĀ
That was the last thing Nezha heard before darkness swept him away.
He regained his senses slowly.
The scent of fresh mountain air was the first thing he recognized, and with that scent, the knowledge he was in fact, at his Masterās Mountain. He couldnāt feel the mountain breeze tickling his skin, so he knew he had to be inside, as the breeze was a playful thing that often teased and tickled him whenever he visited.
We like the breeze, it doesnāt cheat when we play. His inner self stated, soft and innocent, calmed from the edge of its earlier outburst now they knew there was no threat and they were safe. Are you mad at me?
No. You were right to be angry, but that was not the time nor the place to express it. He explained to himself, knowing better than anyone that big emotions were best felt and handled away from people like his father, who used isolation and silence as punishments, no matter how detrimental they were to the developing minds of children. The breeze doesnāt understand how to cheat. He reminded.
He was laid on some kind of padding, soft against his skin, but suitably firm enough to take his weight, a pillow under his head, firm, but with enough give to allow him to sink into it. He was on his back, with a blanket pulled up to his neck, tucked around him both for comfort and warmth, and over his forehead and eyes, a damp weight, likely a cloth soaked in cool water to help reduce any pain or strain he might feel in his head or eyes after such a close call.Ā
The scent of the deep sea lingered on the air and faintly, he could hear the soft singing of birds and calls of the cranes who shared this mountain paradise with his Master.
They sing pretty songs⦠Mother would have loved to hear them.
She would have, and because it would please her to know that the cranes thrived, Nezha would bring her to the waterās edge and show her the nests, telling her the stories of each pair just as his master had told them to him so long ago.
The last thing he came to understand was that someone was close by, the soft sigh of silk moving on silk and the gentle crease of paper pages being turned gave them away. Seated to his left side, lower then him but close enough to be within reach if he needed help.
Why didn't you speak with him? He asked his inner self.
I donāt want to wake up yet⦠He might leave if we wake upā¦
He wonāt leave. Even if we demand it, he will stay. He assured his inner self, ignoring the way his words made his chest feel odd.
Why does he stay? I donāt understand. We hurt him, killed him. And still, he stays close to us, trusts us⦠Is it guilt? Does he think weāre-
Stop it. We are not broken. He reprimanded, as gentle with himself as he knows how to be. And it is not guilt. It's something else. Something, I'm not ready to say aloud yet.
Li Jing says we are unworthy of that.
When have you ever listened to him? Nezha asked his inner selfĀ
ā¦
The sound of the birds was coming from all around, but was loudest to his left side, meaning the window of the room was that way, by deduction, that meant he was in Little Sea Bubble Hall, one of the two side rooms his Master had commissioned to be built for him and Ao Bing when they stayed with him as students. Had he been conscious and able, he would have pushed to be placed in the Little Lotus Pond Hall, where the window was on the right side of the bed, but it seemed Ao Bing had decided his bed and room would be a better place to lay him down.
We like being in his room, it feels safe. His inner self claimed, shamelessly honest in ways he couldnāt be aloud before yawning. Can I sleep now? It's been a long time, and weāre safe on this mountain, with Ao Bing and Masterā¦
I will wake you when I need you again. He bid and with a yawn, his inner self settled down and slipped into its peaceful slumber once again.
Knowing Ao Bing would soon realise he was awake, Nezha tried to sit up-
And regretted it as the pain and aches of everything heād endured, injuries still not fully healed from fighting to defend the Jade Emperor, even with all the help Ao Bing and Chi Yue had offered him, came crashing into him with a vengeance.
āOw.ā He groaned, letting himself fall back into the pillow.
āTry not to move just yet. Iām brewing some medicinal tea for you.ā Ao Bing scolded softly, and Nezha heard the dragon prince stand up and after a light slosh of water, the cloth was removed from his face and replaced with a fresh one, though Ao Bing set the new one over only his forehead. āMaster is still handling matters in Heaven, but the Pagoda Bearing General has been thoroughly schooled and his ideas shut down, not just by Erlang Shen, but Her Highness as well. Wukong and MK are safe.ā
āFor now.ā Nezha said, restlessly moving even as his body longed for him to just stop, to rest and enjoy the peace of the moment. āSomeone will eventually try something. They always do, and Wukong-ā
āNot any time soon, Her Highness and Erlang Shen are using this shift in power to conduct a complete and utter rehaul of documents and a potential restructure of Heavenly laws. The entire Jade Court, as well as a few others are going to be swamped with paper work for at least the next year.ā Ao Bing explained, firm but gentle hands keeping Nezha from trying to leave the bed just yet.
āHow do you know that?ā Nezha asked.
āYanli brought news a few hours after I brought you here.ā Ao Bing smiled and Nezha let himself relax a little more. āDonāt let duty rob you of rest and recovery, Master has given his blessing for us to stay here as long as we need, away from the chaos and stupidity of those who ought to know better. Now, whereās the worst of the pain?ā He asked.
Nezha told him, knowing there was little point in lying to one of the few people who knew his tells and so, instead he busied himself with observing the room while they waited for the tea to brew. The walls were decorated with art of the deep sea forests and flowers, and above a table for offerings, hung a portrait of a beautiful woman, dressed in Eastern Loong silks and crowned, her face dusted with vine scales, eyes of bright blue and dark hair woven into a high bun with long tail, decorated with sea shells and beads about two curled horns that matched Ao Bingās own.
It was the only portrait that remained of Queen Ao Yang, formerly known as the Wife of Dragon King of the East, Ao Guang. She had been claimed by a sickness that culled many Gods, Demons and several Dragons as well as countless humans, even more so than the City Plague that had recently ravaged the lands. All other images of her, no matter how small, had been burnt and torn apart by Ao Bingās father in one of his rages prior to his sealing, but this one portrait was a gift commissioned for Ao Bing by the Queen Mother of the West after she had heard the boy had no images left of his beloved mother to hang in her honour after his return.
Nezha couldnāt help but smile, knowing a portrait of his own mother, Lady Yin was hung in Little Lotus Pond Hall, safe from Li Jingās cruel torment and punishments of having it taken away for even the smallest slights.
After a short while, Ao Bing helped him sit up so he could drink a cup of medicinal tea, honey sweetened to help wash down the bitterness, still he couldnāt help but complain as the bitter taste traveled down his throat. āIck.āĀ
āI know, but itās better than the stuff the healers in the Court would give us.ā Ao Bing reminded Nezha and he couldnāt argue with that, that stuff was pungent and left an aftertaste that ruined oneās appetite for the day. āDo you want to try getting up now?ā
Nezha shook his head, and in a rare moment of selfishness, leant against Ao Bing. They were safe here, far from the scornful gazes of his father and out of reach of others, there was no reason to deny himself the little contact they both longed for. There was no hesitation from the Third Dragon Prince of the East as he moved to cradle the Third Lotus Prince against his side, welcoming and inviting Nezha to stay as long as he wanted.
āDo you want to talk about what caused this?ā Ao Bing asked, soft as a gentle wave at the shore, no pressure, no demand, just an offer to listen and help if possible, if that was what Nezha wanted.
Slowly, Nezha explained it all, from the high tension of the moment when the Jade Emperor was told by the Zodiacs of the impending attack from the Brotherhood of Camel Ridge, the stress of having limited numbers to work with, the moment of relief and panic when Ao Bing, Sha Wujing, the descendants of Zhu Bajie, Ao Lie and the Great Tang Monk arrived in Heaven with Chi Yue. The pain of knowing no matter how well heād fought or how much heād tried, the Late Jade Emperor had ultimately died on Nezhaās watch, and the shame he felt for failing his duty. A feeling not helped by the mixed emotions of how he could ever face Her Highness, the woman he saw as grandmother, again after failing to protect her husband.
The worry for MK when he and Wukong went to face Azure alone, with what seemed to be a very weak plan at the time, the fear that the inkling Chi Yue had made a deal with would betray them and then, the fear that MK would unintentionally drag the Three Realms into calamity. The shock and awe at how willingly MK had then taken hold of power so much greater than himself and used it, actually used it, to undo the harm and damage Azure Lion had caused.
The return to Heaven and the relief of knowing his brothers were safe, the few days of peace that had allowed them all the chance to finally breathe. And then, the anger and sheer audacity of Li Jingās demands that they go to Flower and Fruit Mountain in force and try to shackle Wukong and MK.
Ao Bing listened, gently coaxing the smaller boy to sit across his lap so he could embrace him properly, letting Nezha alternate between holding one hand between both of his, folding and unfolding his sleeve up and down his arm and fiddling with the jade ring on his finger to stop him picking at his fingernails as he spoke, while the other hand held Nezha at the hip, secure and firm, but still gentle, knowing these small things would help ground the younger prince and allow him to talk without accidentally rekindling the flames of his temper.
āI tried to reason with myself but you know how hard that is when Iām at my limit⦠I would have been within my right to correct him, I know that, but not like that.ā Nezha admitted, ignoring the tears that had started rolling down his face some time ago. āI just, couldnāt let him-ā
āHe wonāt.ā Ao Bing said, tone tender and soft as he tightened his hold on Nezha, just enough to silence him for a moment. āMen like him can not and will never have the authority or power to make any kind of demand upon someone like Erlang Shen. Her Highness, Queen Mother of the West, will never allow such cruelty and foolishness to command the Heavens, and if anyone dares to try and undermine her authority as Empress of the Heavens and advisor to the Acting Emperor, then I have no doubt that Her Highness will seek her adopted children for their aid in protecting not only herself, but the innocents of Heaven from such needless unrest and discord.ā
And wouldnāt that be a sight to see? Heaven and all its Realms, once again host to the children the Queen Mother of the West had adopted and raised as her own with the blessing of her Husband, the HĆŗxiÄn Lords and Ladies, the JiĒwÄihĆŗ Princess and Prince, and by now their numbers had grown and expanded to include the clever Huli Jing. Granted, much of their power was tied up in the eastern regions of China, but if called, they would come without hesitation and they would permit no harm to befall upon their adopted mother.
āWouldnāt that cause tension with the Demon Bull Clan?ā Nezha asked, sniffling as the tears slowly began to fade away.Ā
While bringing the Fox Clan back into Heaven would give the Queen Mother of the West protection and greater Authority in the Realm, to do so so openly and suddenly, especially after the two scandals involving the Demon Bull Clan that had driven the Fox Clan away may not be so welcomed by others.
āNot when one remembers that the āscandalā of Jade-Faced Princessā Fall from Grace for allowing herself to be ādefiledā by a savage Bull King, was in fact a wholly and truly consensual relationship formed from genuine love and happiness between the Princess and Immortal, and was only called a scandal because the ladyās father wished her to marry a man of his choosing and she refused to heed him.ā Ao Bing recalled, lifting his hand from Nezhaās hip to his shoulder to gently tuck Nezha closer to his chest, using his other hand to wipe away the tears. āNot to mention that the later ābanishmentā of the Jade Pelted Fox for his, and I quote, āattempts to use his beauty and influence to trick the ruling Demon Bull Kings into forming a rebellion against the Heavensā, was in fact a well established lie given by the now disgraced officials who recently exposed as the masterminds behind the plot that cost the Demon Bull Clan four of their eldest members in the south and completely eradicating their entire northeastern courts. By all accounts, both the Jade-Faced Princess and the Jade Pelted Fox are innocent of any crimes and wrong doings and thus, there is nothing to cause tension between the Fox and Bull Clans.ā
He felt Nezha nod, knowing from his years working in the Jade Court that the Immortal Ruyi and his wife the Jade-Faced Princess, would never allow such accusations to stain the Demon Bull Clansā names again. Not after the loss of their two sons and the attempted assassinations of their daughter Pingping when she was a babe. Especially when, after the trials that had uncovered the truth of the two scandals, the two had made sure the results were known publicly by all their clanmates and families who also carried the Demon Bull Clan name in any copacity.
Any attack against the Fox Clan and their kin would bring the whole Demon Bull Clan down upon the perpetrator, and it was painfully clear that right now, Heaven was in no state to handle such a powerful force.
And still Ao Bingās heart ached when Nezha asked, voice hopeful and seeking assurance that his fears were unfounded, even with all heād been told and understood himself. āTheyāre truly safe?ā
āYes, Nezha.ā He promised, interlocking his free hand with Nezhaās and moved back just enough to lean down, gently pressing his forehead against Nezhaās, an action that brought them both comfort and had become a code between them, an unspoken āI speak the truthā and āweāre okayā all wrapped in one simple gesture. āTheyāre safe.ā
It was a small thing, but it was effective in forcing away the lingering doubts and fears, allowing Nezha to finally properly relax and enjoy the moment of peace wholly. And in his relaxed state, Ao Bing could begin slowly offering some of his core to Nezha, a small drip of his power, pulled forth from deep within his core where the potency was strongest, passing through their hands and through where their foreheads touched. Droplets of raw power that were accepted and repaid with a steady supply of small embers from Nezhaās core.
The sensation of such a transfer ought to have been somewhat painful, fire and water simply did not mix, not without some kind of medium between them to allow a cohesive transfer. But they had found, when unburdened by duties and responsibilities and assured in the knowledge they were safe from unwanted eyes, the transfer between themselves was not only painless, but also resulted in a pleasurable sensation that left them both sated and happy, especially when done slowly like this.
It was a form of intimacy, a means to allow both parties to be completely vulnerable with one another, a level of trust and love more common amongst Dragons then Celestials or Demons, and usually an act shared by Dragons who paired with none-dragon mates, a rare and sacred method of sharing themselves wholly with their partner, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
It wasnāt the physical level of intimacy they wanted, but it was as close as either of them dared to go, even when they knew they were safe on their Masterās Mountain.
No matter how much Ao Bing wanted to gather Nezha close and show him the true depths of his love and desire, to claim him and create a bond between them that could grow and flourish just as well as what they had now had, no matter how much Nezha wanted that, to be claimed and reciprocate, to finally stop hiding this, they both knew such an act would set them on a very dangerous path neither of them was yet strong enough or wise enough to navigate without eventually being caught.
They were both trapped by duty and responsibilities forced upon them by their fathers.Ā
Nezha loved and enjoyed his role, but after his accession to the Heavens, Li Jing had made it a prison Nezha could not truly escape from, for no matter how much he have been responsible before, taking only a day or two every other week to assign his duties to others for a day or two so he could take time away from his post and rest and recharge himself, with Li Jing now in Heaven, Nezhaās time off had become months, or sometimes even years apart. No matter what he did, or who made his time off an order even his father could not refute, eventually Nezha would have to go back, back to the Little Lotus Estate in Heaven and continue his role until the endless work was done.
Ao Bing used his power and standing as Third Prince of the Eastern Sea and Acting Eastern Dragon King to help better and enrich the lives of his people and others, to maintain the stability of the Seas, there was no one to share the heavy burden of such duty with, and no matter how willing his cousins and Uncles were to help so that he could take time off to recover and recharge, they had their own roles and duties to attend and could not linger long.
It simply wasnāt possible, no matter what they tried to reason or think of in their own minds, the brutal truth and reality of it all was that right now, it just wasnāt possible for the to be more then this, this secret, delicate union between them, guarded preciously and hidden from all but one person.
It wasnāt what they wanted, and normally, being alone like this, hidden from sight and holding each other would be enough to sate the yearning in Ao Bingās heart for more. Normally, this closeness would be enough to sooth the constant desire to have Nezha, giving him the memory of the celestialās warmth in his arms, against his chest and fitting comfortably in his lap, the sweet scent of Lotus blooms and lingering smoke close to his nose, it should be enoughā¦
āNezhaā¦ā Ao Bing began, calm despite the slight panting and slight darkening of his ears, a tell to being flustered and one that would only grow deeper and spread to his face given time.
āMn?ā Nezha asked, his own face and neck a shade of soft pink, faint trembles creeping along his limbs, not from cold but still the Third Lotus Prince pressed closer to Ao Bing as if seeking warmth from him.
āStraddle me.ā He managed to breathe out, fearing speaking too loudly would shatter the moment and drive Nezha away from him.Ā
Fear tried to slip its icy fingers between them as Nezha moved, pulling back just so, attempting to shatter his resolve and steal what little courage heād managed to gather, until Nezha came back, one hand moving to the dragonās shoulder while the other interlocked fingers with Ao Bingās, pressing their foreheads together again. āLike this?ā
āYes.ā Fear was pushed away, and Ao Bing let himself savour the new position, bringing his free hand up to the small of Nezhaās back, memorizing and storing away the way his touch sent faint trembles throughout Nezhaās body. āThank you.ā
For a while it was enough to push the want for more down, but sadly, it did not remain suppressed as Ao Bing hoped it would. Instead, the new closeness and position stoked the burning heat and need for more even higher than they had been before, leaving the dragonās face flushed and his heart pounding loudly in his ears.
He was shocked Nezha hadnāt mentioned it, but then again, judging by the warmth seeping into him, he could only assume the youngest Lotus Prince was in no better state than himself.
āWould you⦠if I asked⦠would you let me⦠have more than this?ā The Third Prince of the Eastern Sea pleaded softly between breathy pants.
āMore?ā The Third Lotus Prince repeated, tone curious but also cautious even as something unspoken flickered behind his eyes.
āMore than just⦠This touch. It may be, my own instincts, but⦠this time⦠feels lacking. I⦠I wish, to be more expressive.ā Ao Bing tried to explain coherently though the haze that left him struggling to maintain composure in the face of the unusually strong desires.
āHow?ā Nezha asked, still cautious, but willing to listen even as the sharing of their power heightened his senses, making it a little easier to be brave in the face of something new. He didnāt resist as Ao Bing moved their interlocked hands gently, enough to coax him into relaxing his grip and let the Dragon guide his hand to his chest, giving him the leverage to push Ao Bing away if he wished.
āLet me show you?ā Ao Bing asked, bringing his now free hand up to cradle Nezhaās face. The Lotus Prince nodded and leaned into the touch, letting Ao Bing take the lead.Ā
He didnāt resist as Ao Bing coaxed him closer, nor did he push away when their lips met tenderly.Ā
It began soft, gentle with no expectation of more or even respiration, but it grew firmer, passionate and almost desperate as Nezhaās hands turned to fists, holding Ao Bing close as if afraid heād pull away and stop. Ao Bingās hold tightened, the hand at Nezhaās lower back pulling him in while the one that had cradled his face moved back and tangled into the Lotus Princeās hair.
They could go no further than this, no matter how much they both wanted to, no matter how good it felt to have this and how the new sensory high drove them both deeper into longing, going any further now would only lead them both further down a path they werenāt ready to go down.
It was enough. These precious, hidden kisses and almost feverish embrace shared without witnesses and safe from judgement, it would be their hidden addiction, a new limit they could reach to help release just a fraction of the pent up desire and want and needā¦
Or for people who don't know, the place where Redson trains Mei in Season 4, Embrace your destiny, and later in season 5, Claim to Flame
This place-
Now I know I might be reading into it a bit, but like honestly, why does Redson just know about this place that neither of his parents, that's appeared in the show, don't??
Be warned, I ain't a professional on Chinese Mythology and JTTW so this is truly speculation. If anyone has criticism or more info, always share I do like learning and correcting mistakes
Onward- I think it's an old Temple for Guanyin and/or Muzha
For those who don't know, in JTTW, Redboy, not Redson in the book, I think, actually was defeated with the help of several people, including Guanyin (though she helps Wukong like every day this was normal), but this time around Redboy foolishly pretended to be Guanyin and tricked Pigsy (Zhu Bajie). She wasn't having that. So she got a bunch of Celestial swords, turned them into her Lotus platform, pretended to leave, then Redson sat on the Flower because he thought he was the bees knees and ended up going through severe pain (surprise swords hurt). Guanyin then casted the Binding Spell on Redboy, shaved his head, and claimed him as her disciple from then on. Don't worry Redboy became better we see in latter parts.
Summary of the summary- Redboy is a disciple of Guanyin
Now LMK is different so Guanyin prob didn't cast the spell of SNATCHED or used the swords of HAH YOU THOUGHT so here's what I think is their relationship and how it impacts my theory
After the Samadhi Fire incident, at some point PIF asked Guanyin for help in training Redson with his fire powers, and she accepted, mentoring him
Technically, she lives in the Southern Seas and not mountains, so this place is obviously not her home, but it's possibly a training ground. This would also mean that Muzha, Guanyin's other disciple and Nezha's older brother, would train him. Now here's some facts to prove this
The place is found on a mountain, now while Guanyin doesn't have information on living or having temples on mountains, Muzha does
Its guessed, aka im using Google, that Muzha lives in the Western Foothills, which means the mast ranges of Mountains, so him having an extra Temple/House makes sense
Redson goes on to call these "7th century Mo Dao" or something like that was hard to hear. Now JTTW takes place in the 7th century, and Redson admits that it's hard to find these specific spears, so what if they were given him to Muzha back in the day and they've just been sitting the Place. Maybe this is what Muzha also used to teach Redson to fight
Aka the shack we first see Mei in-
Now we see Redson have a more love for meditation than in prior seasons/episodes, which is weird considering his Anger Issues
So what if Guanyin helped him with that? In the Revenge of the Spider Queen, he calms down to ask nicely to steal their ship, which looks like he almost burst a nerve but he tried!!
Is it possible that PIF taught him to control his anger? Yes. But as the goddess of Mercy and Compassion, Guanyin is all about that meditation and calmness, she's a Bodhisattva too.
So in Redson's speech of Meditation later on, it could be the same thing Guanyin told him, except for the smit your enemies prob
Now most Guanyin Statues have her holding a Jar of water in her left with an olive branch in her right.
In fact, the only time we saw Guanyin the show so far is when Tang is describing Redson's story, though it might be different
Also, if you notice on the bottom of the statue, you see a Lotus pattern similar to Nezha's
Now Guanyin is known for sitting upon a Lotus flower, so this isn't far fetched, also Nezha's brother IS Muzha, so maybe they sometimes get mixed up (as siblings do) even with their statues
Now If the statue looks to masculine do remember Guanyin is sometimes seen and as a man and sometimes as a women, and sometimes both or neither, she cool like that
Next, again with the statue, the things being offered, fruit, a candle, and a jar of something, now according to Google, beware yall ITS GOOGLE-
Fruit is one of the five standard offerings made to Guanyin, along with flowers, water, oil or light, and incense
Isn't that cute he's making offerings to his past teacher!!! Now as a demon it's strange to make ANY offerings to gods, so it makes sense if it's Guanyin or Muzha
Now I will say this statue ALSO looks like Nuwa, and there's clay figures in acloves nearby so like I'm not 100% sure
Also the place around the Shack of Meditation is Bamboo, which is common in China but is also a significant plant for Guanyin and Muzha (I think) this is based on interpretations I've seen where bamboo is seen in her place at the Souther Seas (from OSP) or where Muzha's outfits include depictions of bamboo (Art here on Tumblr)
FINNALY, last notes
1. This place is introduced ONLY when the Samadhi fire is included, which is the whole reason Guanyin became Redboy's Master/mentor in JTTW ar all
2. Redson comments that this place is one of the few places LBD has taken, and if it's under protection of Muzha and/or Guanyin, it makes sense they powerful gods/goddesses
3. I just think it's neat and maybe foreshadowing for a future episode where we'll see Guanyin and Redson backstory, maybe a repeat of Redson's lines for thet DRAMATIC EFFECT
That's all have a nice day, my hand hurts:')
Also I'm not sure if anyone knows but like I have a YouTube playlist with all the LMK episodes for free, which is how I learn stuff quickly qnd get the screenshots, if anyone wants it I'll dm the link š
