By the way
pdi15 and punyuy asked me to post the Shamy fic I wrote when âThe Theory of Everythingâ came out.
So, here it is again. Enjoy my friends, this is one of my favorites.
Sheldon and Amy had decided to go to the movies and watch âThe Theory of everythingâ. Amy was excited to see it, but not as much as Sheldon; he already considered himself as someone really close to Stephen Hawking and that made him feel special. Besides, he had always admired him for his amazing and successful career. He wanted to be like him someday.
Once the movie was over, they started to talk about it.
âI really liked it. It was quite long, but it was certainly beautiful and educationalâ Amy said as she walked out of the theater with Sheldon.
âIt wasnât that bad, but it was clearly not as I expectedâ Sheldon said.
âWhat do you mean?â Amy asked.
âWhen I read it was going to be a Biopic movie, I thought it would be more about his job as an astrophysicist and about his theories, but it turned out to be more like a love storyâ he explained.
âI felt it explained a lot about his research and his theoriesâ Amy said.
âIt did; but not as much as I wantedâ Sheldon said groaning.
âWell, I loved it, to be honest. I donât know why you donât like it; it was really romantic, especially when they dancedâ. Amy said
âMy pointâ Sheldon said, as he explained the reason of his state of dislike.
âSo, itâs still early, wanna go to eat something?â Amy asked.
âSureâ he said.
Since it was Thursday, that meant it was Pizza night on Sheldonâs calendar, so they went to eat pizza. As they entered the restaurant, Amy asked Sheldon to wait for her on the table while she went to the restroom. Sheldon did as he was told. While he sat waiting for Amy, his mind kept thinking about the movie. Sheldon already knew Stephen Hawkingâs life, but watching it had made an impact; the fact that it had been more about love and Stephen and Jane Hawkingâs marriage wasnât really the thing that made Sheldon dislike it, it was true he expected to see more about his job, but at the end, it was kind of disappointing that they had gotten a divorce. When Amy came back, it was Sheldonâs turn to go to the restroom to wash his hands, then, he went back to his table and they ordered their food. Amy started to talk about her day at the lab and about a new research she had been working on. Sheldon just stared at her, but his mind was someplace else, he started to wonder what would happen if he had a life like Hawkingâs.
âSheldon, are you listening to me? You seem distractedâ Amy said, flicking her fingers to make Sheldon get out of âthe zoneâ.
âIâm sorry, Iâm just thinkingâ Sheldon apologize.
âMay I know what are you thinking?â Amy asked.
âCan I ask you something?â Sheldon said.
âHum, sure, I guessâ Amy said confused.
âYou already know that my mind is as brilliant as Stephen Hawkingâs, right?â he asked. Amy nodded.
âWell, Iâm thinking that it doesnât really matter how smart you are, you can always get a disease like hisâŚâ he continued explaining.
âI agree with you, but if youâre trying to tell me something, I might need more context here to have an epiphany, Sheldonâ. Amy said.
âMy point is, if for some reason, I ever get sick and I end up on a wheel chair, would you take care of me?â Sheldon asked. He was getting worried about it and he wanted to know the answer.
âOf course I would, Sheldon. Why do you ask?â Amy asked.
âThatâs what Jane said to him, and they got divorced, she got tired of him, Amy. How could someone get tired of Stephen Hawking? Iâd be so honored to take care of himâ Sheldon said exasperated.
âWell, it was pretty exhausting to take care of him. Iâm sure you would do the same, no matter who that person is, donât you think?â Amy said.
âSo, youâre saying that if that happens to me, youâll get tired too and youâll leave me?â Sheldon asked.
âNo. Iâm saying that I understand why she left him, but Iâm not saying I would do the same with youâ Amy explained.
âReally? Â Would you stand by me? Even if you have to carry me everywhere?â he asked.
âI would carry you everywhereâ she answered
âEven if I cannot move any muscle?â
âEven if you cannot move any muscleâ.
âDo you realize that I wouldnât be able to hug you, to cuddle with you, and probably, after some years, have coitus with you?â Sheldon asked.
âYes, and still, Iâd be with you. Besides, we had never have coitus, we barely touch each other and I only get to kiss you at the end of every date night. I think I could handle itâ. Amy said proudly. Sheldon stared at her. âSo, do you have more questions?â Amy asked him.
âNo. I think Iâm done hereâ Sheldon said as he went back to his food. Now, it was Amy that was staring at him.
âSheldon, you would do the same for me, wouldnât you?â Amy asked.
âI donât think I would have toâ Sheldon said.
âYeah, well, the odds of getting a disease like that are really low, but Iâm asking you hypotheticallyâ Amy said.
âI knowâ Sheldon said.
âAnd? Why do you think you wouldnât have to do all those things for me?â Amy asked, she was kind of used to Sheldonâs selfishness at this point, but it would surely break her heart of Sheldon said he wouldnât take care of her.
âBecause if you ever get a disease like that I would do whatever itâd take to find the cure. Even if I have to change my physics study to neurobiologyâ Sheldon said. Â Amy thought that was certainly the best answer he could have given. âAnd you know Iâd succeed. I excel at everythingâ He added. Amy smiled at him.
âI love you, Sheldonâ She said tenderly.
âI love you, too. But Iâd suggest you to change your answer for my answer; it makes more sense since youâre the neurobiologist hereâ he said before drinking some juice.
âThen I take back what has been saidâ Amy said happily.
Once they were done with the food, they decided to take a walk. They went to a park that was a few blocks away from the restaurant. There only were a few people there, so, technically they were alone. Sheldon took Amyâs hand in his as they walked without being asked, which surprised Amy.
âWhat are you doing?â She asked, although, she wasnât going to complain.
âI figured it would be really awful to lose all motor skills and abilities to move the body as someoneâs will, so I say we better take advantage of them while we canâ he said, looking at her.
âYouâre rightâ Amy said squeezing his hand. They stared at each other for a few seconds before Sheldon asked.
âWould you like to dance?â
âReally? Here?â Amy asked excited.
âSure, why not?â Sheldon said tangling his fingers between Amyâs and placing his other hand on her waist. He started to move his feet on the floor thinking of the musical notes that would be heard if they had waltz music. Amy just played along with him, moving her feet as Sheldon leaded her.
âOh, this is so romanticâ She said.
âI know. Just like in the movieâ Sheldon said smiling.
âWaitâ Amy said.
âWhat?â Sheldon asked as Amy pulled out her phone.
âI just remembered: Â I have waltz music. I like to listen to it while Iâm at workâ She explained as she pressed play on the screen. Sheldon took her again and they started to dance. Once the track was over, they stopped dancing; however, they stayed close, with their hands still together. Sheldon knew he had to kiss Amy until the very end of their date, but he just couldnât wait any longer: he leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. Amy kissed him back without hesitating.
âAs usual, that was niceâ Amy said when they broke the kiss.
âI know, but now we will have to kiss again when you take me homeâ Sheldon said.
âIâm okay with itâ Amy said giggling.
âMe tooâ Sheldon said, taking her hand again before leaving the park.
