I love, love, love the Aliens franchise. Alien is one of the best psychological thrillers. Aliens upped the ante and introduced the memorable Colonial Marines (yes I love Marines no matter what version they are). And Aliens 3, well it was a thing. The less said about Aliens 4 the better. Prometheus and Covenant have yet to live up to expectations but have added additional lore. Alien vs Predator, only the first one, is also really great: with a badass woman of color, characters you care about, and some great action scenes. Thereās a bunch of comics and official novels out there too but none that Iāve really loved. Which is to say I will always take more Aliens content.Ā
This fic is a lovely alternative take on Aliens 3. It keeps Hicks and Newt and has a Ripley whoās more determined than ever to stop the xenomorphs.
Lizzenās Far Across the Skies is a little darker but also explores a post-Aliens world. The Company has, of course, ignored the warnings and are using the xenomorphs in a variety of ways. It doesnāt take long for that to go to shit.
The Burning Star is glorious Hicks/Ripley smut with feelings and a bit of revolution.
