“okay, i get it, dex. so maybe he’s not the nicest guy around…” while technically true, this is arguably one of the biggest understatements debra could have possibly concocted when trying to describe one sheriff alex romero and his typical, everyday demeanor. put lightly, romero was not particularly friendly. put bluntly, he was a bit of an asshole. to the majority of his colleagues and acquaintances, he was often short, dismissive, and skeptical, asserting his unquestionable dominance over any and all who crossed him without apology or second thought. deb had been fortunate in that she had been quite possibly the only person at miami metro with whom he had shown any sort of kindness (and even that had been hard fought, and eventually won), and so she often found it difficult to empathize with those who had seen the less favorable, and far more common, side of the sheriff. “but i mean, you just have to do what he says,” little sister preaches, as if she wrote the book on obedience to authority. “you never had a problem doing what doakes said, and he was a WAY bigger asshole than romero.”
