On one of our first dates, I forget exactly which, but it had to have been 2nd or 3rd-Elbow’s just released album ‘Leaders of the Free World’ (2005, but this story plays out in 2006) started playing out of George’s car stereo. And there began my love affair with Elbow. George later confessed he purposefully put them on, because he knew “it’s what I would like.” Elbow always reminds me of those falling in love months. They’re also the first band we saw together in concert at the Avalon. They’re easily *our* favorite band. And Guy Garvey’s voice is heaven. Flash forward all these years later and needless to say, I was very emotional last night at the fact that we were seeing them to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
