The Inquisition — Haven — was an odd place. Too full of people with too few defenses. She was staring at the large gate, looking over the walls to either side. She wondered what made them think this was a dependable place. Throwing stones at the sky, hoping they did not strike them on the way down, she thought. That’s what it seemed.
She looked towards the soldiers training. Watching the way they repeated motions for fighting shield to shield, melee combat. But not enough defense from a distance or magic. Too many openings. Too much — Her eyes and mind drifted to the woman she’d seen before. Couldn’t remember her name. She had good swings, aggressive but full weight to follow through. She was a force to be reckoned with, she figured. Approaching her felt odd, as if she’d break her concentration. But she was curious. Out of place still.
