𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗦 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗕𝗬 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘, it causes her swagger to falter, face to fall and brows to furrow. it wasn’t long ago that gabe was practically begging her to stay, begging her to take the job at the record shop. and yeah, steph had to admit it was a fuckin’ perfect job. DJ host in a small town, selling records to people she knew, getting to be around people who she considered her friends? it was great. but the desire to get out was too strong. it kept pulling on her heartstrings, tugging her to explore. to leave any sense of stability behind. to hit the road and never look back. maybe she was scared of the commitment that staying in haven springs represented, and if that was it? if that was the case, she’d never admit it. not to anyone, not even herself.
gabe was literally the only reason she was here, and him telling her to leave stung just a little. lips pull into a tight line and nervously she spins the ring on her finger. ❝ that’s all it takes? just joking about buying an RV? that’s what sets you off? ❞ tone is teasing, playful in that way that only steph gingrich can achieve. an attempt to lighten the mood. an attempt to deny the feelings of anxiety that are creeping up. ❝ if you wanted me out of here that bad, chen, all you had to do was say so. I can get a bus ticket out of here any second, really. and the options are limitless, y’know? Vegas, New York, Miami.... I could be anywhere, go anywhere. ❞ tone is still playful but a hint of hopefulness, of longing, seeps out of the edges, giving away her true desire.
❝ I wouldn’t have let you win if I knew it was this easy to convince you to let me leave. ❞
❛ just go . get out of here , go . ❜ ⇁ @livedthrough from gabe.
