Grease (live performance) review
I really liked the idea of doing a performance LIVE (emphasis on LIVE) like āpeter panā, āthe wizā, and the āsound of musicā. unfortunately, the settings, lights, and audience gave the performance a more unreal and irritating show. (especially Mr. Lopez, I HATED HIM FROM THE MOMENT I REALIZED HE PLAYED VINCENT FONTAINE YEECH!)the three biggest exciting people were venessa hudgins (may her father rest in peace), the surprise special guests Did Conn (old!Grease Frenchy), and Barry Pearl (old!Grease Doody). i really liked the salute to the old!Grease movie by including those characters and by using the same settings and dance moves! I also loved adding bits of the broadway!Grease, it made me wish i couldāve gone to see the musical because the music was fantastic and helped me understand the characterĀ āMartyā more as an individual and not as a group with the pink ladies.
there are somethings that need to be worked on. the biggest one was theĀ āthunder roadā scene.

the settings, lights, steam, and acting was TERRIBLE. it would have been better to use CGI, or have them race in the street to create something that looked real! (a wind machine would have DEFINITELY BEEN NICE).
the gym was a bit odd to use for the pep rally scene when they had that outdoor area to use! by using that gym too often, they made their sceneĀ ātiredā and boring to use again, and again.
***a general question for all during the performance: did the sound disappear for any of you duringĀ āhand jiveā? or glitched? people have been reporting on facebook but i just wanna confirm.***
so to positives:
great singing, everyone was on tune and showed great enthusiasm to their parts and thus, made their own parts unique to themselves. costuming was interesting (especially Keke Palmerās costume change and her song!) but was kinda aggravated by using the pink ladies (in disguise of course) as backup singers for every performance that required back ups. (āfreddy my loveā was okay-as they were singing backup before the scene change. butĀ āgrease lightningā was taking it too far).
biggest part i loved was the entire sequence toĀ āyouāre the one i wantā.
iām just sad that aaron and Julianne couldnāt sing/dance together more during the show like THAT spine-tingling performance.
overall, this was definitely a good performance and will watch it on youtube or whatever website itāll pop up on...iāll just skip over the thunder road.
