Today is the first day of the liturgical year. It’s the first day of advent. A time of waiting and preparing. How are you preparing for Jesus? The Gospel today talks about being watchful. In 4 verses is says “watch” and “watchful” 4 times. The repetition isn’t a coincidence. It’s purposeful. We must be alert and watch for Jesus to come. It’s also the beginning of my quest to live out a true liturgical year. I’ll be sharing our progress as we go along. I saw on the feast of St Michael many people were posting photos and referencing Michaelmas. I didn’t know what it was so I googled. I was amazed at all the ways people celebrate church feast days. As I dug a little more I found a great post from @catholicicing about living a Liturgical Year. My children are young (6&5) and I think many of her suggestions will help bring our faith to life for them. So have you done this? I’m planning now so that we can begin. (Remember the first of any liturgical year starts at advent) Catholic Icing has great resources and I plan to utilize them. I’ve also made sure to go ahead and order my @everysacredsunday Mass Journal so it will arrive in time for advent.
