I answered 4 a second ago--I do have a few habits when it comes to writing!

14. What does it take for you to be ready to write a book? (i.e. do you research? outline? make a playlist or pinterest board? wing it?)

I have in fact been known to do... all of these... at some point or another. When I first started Quinsby (the giant fairy tale adventure project I will eventually get back to), I was winging it. 

With Parker and Winthrop (that’s the project Basia and I are working on now), it’s more organized. It has to be, really, since we’re dealing with two brains and what not, but we’ve done outlining, some research, and lots of pinterest boards (which were new to us for writing, but have proven incredibly fun). 

24. Do you remember the moment you decided to become a writer/author?

Sort of? It’s more of an idea of a feeling than a memory of a decision. I was about seven years old. I was home schooled at the time, and my mom was trying to teach me how to write and, as it happened, I hated writing. Absolutely loathed it (to the point that my mom thought there might be something wrong with me. That was how much I hated it). 

But one day I remember thinking I’ll just have to get over it. I’ll have to get over it because authors are writers, and I’m going to be an author one day because authors make books, and that’s the best thing a person can do--or some such. I definitely remember thinking I’d have to get over it.

And lo, not ten years later writing was my favorite pastime. 

34. Unpopular writing thoughts/opinions?

I don’t know that I have any?

44. Why (and when) did you decide to become a writer?

See above for 24! Reasoning remains about the same, except that I’ve already gotten over the hatred of writing, haha. 

54. Favorite first line/opening you’ve written?

That’s a tough one, actually, but I’d have to go with either Hugo was a worrier, which was for this short story about a rather anxious ghost, or The christening should have been a quiet affair, which is the start of my ridiculous fairy tale.

I know this wasn’t technically for me, but I LOVE THIS SO MUCH, I forgive you for the terrible PPE, I know its not your fault

13: what's something that made you smile today?

I read the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay after work today, and that definitely made me smile. A lot. 

26: what are the shoes you've had for forever and wear with every single outfit?

I’m actually really, really hard on my shoes, so I don’t have many old pairs! I guess my Doc Martens? I’ve had them for about four years now and while I don’t wear them with every single outfit at the moment, I definitely have in the past. They’re super comfortable and, if I do say so myself, super cute. 

39: what color do you wear the most?

blues and grays of varying shades.

churro is the singular, its a Mexican dessert, basically its a fried dough stick covered in cinnamon sugar, often dipped in chocolate

I would absolutely hands down pick power. The other two, should I want them, can much more easily come from it ;)
