I started reading again, and I picked up The Priory of the Orange Tree (which is insane cause it is over 800 pages long).
I read about 90 pages so far and it is ... so good??
It is from the perspective of a handful of characters that all already feel very fleshed out, and their story are entertwined enough that I don’t feel pulled apart in every direction but just getting all the points of view necessary to understand the bigger story.
And, i think, the bigger story, so far, is about the world they are living in. There’s this mystery around the past, not everyone believes the same thing about what happened, it is all very intriguing.
This book, altogether, is great at world building, and I barely scratch the surface.
This is high fantasy, political medieval with dragonriders and alchemy. I know this world is rich, and complicated, and the writter makes it a point to only tell you organically what you need to kow gradually, as to not drown you in information and keep the mystery afloat.
Also the dialogue is really witty, and every character have their own voice which I really appreciate.
Anyway, I’m gonna head over to the parc and hopefully get a nice long read there!
