After reading the novel "Girl Reading" by Katie Ward I came across this website where the pictures which inspired her are shown. It is an interesting book, one which takes you from medieval Sienna to the future in Japan linked only by the images of a female reading a book. It is certainly worth a read and makes you think about how society has changed in its attitudes and habits, while showing the importance of not just getting rid of something, because it is from the past.
