Just like the @chinesetheatres handprint ceremony, I did *not* see this coming! The 21 year old me who was transformed by #slacker and then tried to make his own movie two years later did *not* see this coming. When I asked fellow @vancouverfilmschool kid @samosier to come to Jersey and help me make a flick, we did *not* see this coming. When I asked @jaymewes to play one half of cinematic stoner duo @jayandsilentbob, we did *not* see this coming. When I told @briancohalloran and @marilynghigliotti and #jeffanderson and #lisaspoonauer they were playing the leads, we did *not* see this coming. When @davidkleinasc told me shooting black & white would make the movie cheaper, we did *not* see this coming. When I asked my Dad and my Mom @donsgirlgrace to borrow 3k so I could rent a noisy old @arri SR2 with which to shoot my convenience store epic, we did *not* see this coming. When @marktuskflaneurfoto told @miramax to buy the film at @sundanceorg, we did *not* see this coming. 25 years after theatrical release, my $27,575 @visa_us, @mastercard & @americanexpress financed feature continues to pay off huge! Thank you to the #libraryofcongress for acknowledging our little Jersey-based paean to working hard at not working at all. You took the only magic trick I’ve ever pulled off and legitimized it, placing Clerks - The L’il Movie That Could - into some legendary company!
