Elementary OS - Can't add Gmail Accounts
In elementary os, there is a default (stocked) Email program that comes already installed on first boot. Some people been having problems adding their Gmail accounts to the Mail program, due to a Connection problem "Could not save the email account", "IMAP Verification Failed:." If you was one of the people like I was, who encountered this problem, here is the fix, your girl found it! ISSUE: "Could not save the email account", "IMAP Verification Failed:." When adding a GMAIL Account to the default mail program in Elementary OS. REASON: If you ran into this error, you most likely have 2-Step Verification enabled in your Google Account. 2-Step Verification is an extra step google will need for them to grant you access to your account. Like google sends your pin number to your phone, or you generate a pin number via Authentication App. SOLUTION: What you can do, is to simply generate an App Specific Password, which was made to act as a specific password for particular apps, like an Email app/software. No need to compromise your 2-Step Security measure. Simple gravitate to "Google Account"(https://myaccount.google.com/) >ANDTHEN> Look to the left hand side list of links "Security"(https://myaccount.google.com/security) >ANDTHEN> Scroll Down to "Signing in to Google" >ANDTHEN > Find "Apps passwords" column >ANDTHEN> Click the "Apps passwords" column >ANDTHEN> On the App Passwords page, select the app name and device name, and then generate password. >ANDTHEN> Once generated, it'll show you the password, just copy and pass it into Elementary OS Default Mail program as the password replacement for your original Gmail password. Doing so will bypass the 2-step verification issue that caused the IMAP Verification Error. THIS SOLUTION WAS WORKS FOR: Elementary OS Mail: "IMAP Verification Failed" error msg. Geary Email: "Check your receiving server details" error msg.
