Save Food & Innovate
Here at Limetri we focus on the problems at hand, there are enough problems in the world. At this rate, we continue to make new problems before the old problems are solved. Especially in the agricultural and food sector in combination with the transport industry. In order to feed the world in a sustainable way there are many business areas from seed to fork that need to be improved.
The food production on farms in the field and in greenhouses needs to be increased, handling and storage should be optimised to prevent the loss or decay of valuable food products, transport should be monitored and consumers should be informed about this whole process in order to assure the food safety.
According to the FAO (http://www.fao.org/save-food/en/) (http://www.fao.org/food-loss-and-food-waste/en/) (@faoknowledge, #FAO, ) up to one third of all food is spoiled or squandered before it is consumed by people. This amounts to about 1.3 billion tons per year. This also means that huge amounts of the resources used in food production are used in vain, and that the greenhouse gas emissions caused by production of food that gets lost or wasted are also emissions in vain.
The FAO estimates that the per capita food waste by consumers in Europe and North-America is 95-115 kg/year.
Information technology is the key to monitoring crops and products and offering decision support for better management decisions. That is why LimeTri is developing software which gives the user information about the ins and outs of their produced goods, where creating the right circumstances is the main target. We contribute to the problem in our own way, making notice of these contributions and finding a base to carry out our solutions is the next step.
Help us improve the agricultural and transport business so the loss and waste of food can be brought to a minimal. Find us on Twitter and Facebook or at LimeTri.eu for more information about our solutions.
