“Can I just be irrational and vent my nonsensical frustrations out without you trying to logic a sense of calm into me?”

The question caused her to stop what she was doing, finally looking up from her work to give the other her full attention. Though the tone used was seriously lacking in the empathy department, she had been trying to make her feel better... You know, like the books said to do. ‘Keep your tone calm, and try to talk them through it.’ The funny thing about those books though, they never seemed to actually work in practice. Honestly, it was beginning to sound like the exact opposite of what she should do. How the hell was she supposed to handle this? 

          ❝  WELL  ,  I  DO  SUPPOSE  I’LL  ASK  ,  ❞  elbows rest upon the table as he leans, scarred hands folding together to allow his head to rest. dark eyes rimmed red study the woman before him, a grin playing at his lips. ❝ at the risk of soundin’ cliché. what’s a pretty li’l thing like you doin’ here, miss heather ? ain’t you got somewhere BETTER to be ? ❞ oh, don’t get him wrong, he ADORES her company -- but such is not the scene for a doll like her. while it seems like he belongs; exhaustion behind eyes, fake smile plastered to his face, and that oh-so-tough exterior.. heather duke does not fit among these low-lives. and, in his opinion, she sure as hell doesn’t look right sitting across from HIM.

          ❝  ‘EY  PRETTY  LADY  ,  HAVE  YA  HEARD  THE  NEWS  ?  ❞  jack’s arm wraps tight around heather’s waist, pulling her to his side. lips press a quick kiss to her cheek before he’s resting his chin atop her head. ❝ yer the prettiest damn thing on the block. nah, nah -- the prettiest damn thing IN THIS TOWN. ❞ there’s that trademark smirk, face buried in her hair for a moment before he bombards her with yet more kisses. ❝ maybe even the prettiest damn thing in this COUNTRY. ❞
